Live Face on Web -- a cool way to present sales copy? Or just creepy?

I clicked on an ad for Factor 2 supplements, and as I was reading the page, some good-looking chick pops up in the right corner and starts talking to me. It's pretty much a mini-VSL in sexy-woman form.

(Check out the ad here. No affiliation.)

Anyway, this service is from a company called Live Face on the Web. Apparently it's been around for awhile, but I've never heard of it.

It seems pretty interesting, and I'm wondering if any copywriters here have tried it out.

Here's the website (again, no affiliation and all that jazz):
LiveFaceOnWeb | Leader in offering Virtual Spokesperson,Video Spokesperson, Virtual Salesperson & Web Greete

Even if you haven't had experience with it, what do you think about it? A useful tool that could potentially boost conversions... or merely a gimmick?

Haven't employed this sort of tactic before. It's interesting, certainly snags your attention, and if done in a professional and engaging manner, might be useful.

However, even while I recognize that videos can be a great content format, I will say that videos in and of themselves rarely act as an initial big hook for me when coming to a landing page. In fact, if a video automatically starts playing right when I arrive, it can be a bit of a turnoff. I immediately hunt for the Pause/Stop button so I can shut the thing up and figure out what the page is about before I get distracted by the vocals (same reaction for pop-up ads..."Where's the freakin' Close/X button so I can get this out of my face?!"

If the video has enough text around it that intrigues me, then I might resume it for 10-30 seconds to see if it continues building the engagement levels. Otherwise...Bounce Rate +1!

we've used them. they work, but its not cheap. They need to be used a specific way, and no its not a replacement for a vsl or sales message.

Never tested it but I'd be very surprised if it (considering it's well done of course) didn't have a positive impact. Someday, probably soon, we'll have holograms appearing in our living rooms. Could make online dating interesting...but that's another story. ;-)

It can all be done in every studio with green screen capabilities, but they have quite reasonable prices

They provide excellent service - especially with video for froeing markets - but they charged my CC three times for the same order!
So, be prepared for some accounting problems from their side and check your CC account often.

I know there is only one flash video format capable of doing transparent video.

There was also a WSO about selling mobile and offline services here that used this technology...

I find a lot of "hired guns" creepy to start with. This item no less so, missing lower half and all.

To me, this is almost as annoying as auto load music or video. Though maybe some people will find it very useful. It's good to have an option where the visitor can start the presentation voluntarily rather than having it thrust upon them.

Just saw this video this morning:

Alpha transparency in Chrome video - HTML5Rocks Updates

It's about transparent videos over other videos in the Chrome browser. Or something. The video explains it far better than I ever could.

Yes it works for high end products, security related products or services, custom products...

Would definitely bomb with a low priced, impulse buy...
