I Earnt $32 for 1.5 Hours Work

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to encourage you guys with my own success story. I haven't done copywriting for anyone in a few months (because I have been doing other things) and I just wrote 4 articles today and earnt $32 for doing both of them.

$32/1.5 = $21.33/hour

That is not a bad wage by anyones standards.

I don't think I will be freelance writing full time, but this is a great method to slowly save up for some things I want to buy (like an LCD tv and a PS3).

So be encouraged that you can earn great money copywriting

    Just to make the distinction...

Copywriting: Content written to cause the reader to take action.
Article Writing: Content written to educate.

Good job on the $$$ though.

Well this was a little bit of both. I was writing articles that were causing the reader to take action...but they were also informative.

Thanks for the heads up though

If so, you're getting SERIOUSLY underpaid.

I don't know a single copywriter who is worth a hill of beans that would charge that low of a price.

If your articles really get the response your client is looking for, just think how much money he'll be banking from it. He'd be more than willing to pay you a boat-load if you can make two boat-loads for him.

Well above minimum wage. Do that for even 5 hours a day and you will have a nice little earner there.....won't be long before you can afford your tv and ps3.

I actually didn't think of using copywriting/freelance writing to slowly save up for things I want to buy until I posted this thread.

It has now given me a great idea on how I can truely afford the things that I want.....genius!!!

Turns out Warrior forum is really helpful after all (in the strangest ways sometimes)

Well this ties in perfectly to your other thread about your goals.

A cool game box no longer costs $600, it costs 30 hours of article writing.

How much time did you need to put into promotion in order to get the four article assignments? Can you calculate your time to market your service as well as to provide the service?

    Regards,
    Allen

It's still not a bad start. My lowest copywriting rate is $55/hr. And that's for friends. I keep my rate at $200/hr for a minimum of 4 hours. This is mainly for sales letters though and not articles. I don't write articles. I have others do that for me. But again, it's a good start so congratulations. Just keep honing your skill and raise your price as you get more clients.

That's not a bad rate for article writing, but keep in mind the time and money you spent prospecting, emailing or talking on the phone to clients, doing administrative work ... etc. That should all be factored into your rate.

Also remember that you're paying the full freight on your FICA. So there's an extra 7.65%.

And no one's kicking in for your health care or retirement.

I'm not saying this to rain on your parade. Just giving you things to consider when setting a rate.

A lot of your clients either don't think about these extra costs or choose to ignore them ... then get all worked up when someone wants a higher wage "just to do some writing." They forget about the research, too.
