I meander through old threads on Michel Fortin's old copywriting board from time to time. Somebody postulated in a thread there that big name marketers never posted there. One poster responded with what may be the best quote I read on that board, saying, "...In any case, Gary Halbert has posted in here before - even if it was only to ask for a b***job."

Anyhowz, the OP of that same thread

How I structure my offer, and use tons of bonuses.... - Copywriters Board

was showing how he likes to give lots of bonuses. Holy cow, no kidding, here's his old sales letter with like 20 bonuses. And more PS' than I've ever seen in my life.

It was funny because Matt had asked for a critique for his site that you gave a link to which was a long, long, long sales letter.

    __________

"Oh and after reading for about 10 minutes and glancing to the right hand scroll bar and noticing it has barely moved, Im thinking to myself 'holy crap this is long'.

Surely you can make your point in a much more ruthless fashion? "

    Critique: Sellingwhiz.com - Copywriters Board
    __________

Critiques are good, but sometimes you need to take them with a grain of salt. One person may think it's all wrong, while another thinks it's great.

I've seen some things that people thought really sucked...and they turned out to make a fortune for the writer. Test, test, test.

    Thanks for the post Joe.

There's another reason why that copy seems even longer than it is: it's rubbish.

But maybe that's just my opinion.

I've written similar length copy and I know people read all of it.

It's all down to the copy. Not the length.

Oh what an absolutely beautiful website. No way in hell I'm going to even attempt to read all that but really?

That page gave me a chuckle, you have my thanks. I'm honestly surprised the guy was even using box-shadow CSS with what the rest of that page looked like.

Michael's copywriters board was a wonderful site.

And many big hitters did post there...just not so often.

They certainly did watch the forums. I know that because
a few contacted me after reading posts there.

It's a shame the site is no longer active.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh
