Rockin in the new year copywriting style...

Bout to start another new year in a few hours.

Hope you all make a boat load of cash this year.

I TRY and make it a habit not to get drunk...may have to do some "split testing" though.

...but am having a little party..

Anybody got any more suggestions for some good music a copywriter should have at a party on New Years Eve?

Here's some songs I like...

5th one down..."I Think I Know". This song rocks...

Jeremey Frederick

LOL...guess I have to post this one since I mentioned it in a post today...

Another big hit:

Don't think this'll make your party playlist, but here's my favorite new record from 2012 - Big Wreck's Albatross

        Brian -

At first I thought they were heavily 80s influenced. Then I thought 90s alternative. Then I thought prog metal. Then I thought...oh, I like this!

        Thanks for sharing

Here's one of my favorite party-night tunes...

And I've been listening to a lot of The Police over the past couple of weeks while traveling. This one is a favorite:

          Happy New Year!

Here's one of my favorite tracks (the guitar solo/tone is sublime)

Pretty awesome tune right there...Went to their website and saw this quote in their bio, which made me realize why I like their sound so much:

"While contemplating the next studio sessions, Ian was listening to Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac and Thin Lizzy, finding a love of the textures in clean guitars against dry drums for creating a sonic backdrop that's rarer today."

Hey Jeremy...I like that song by the Police too...wasn't just trying to give you a plug...well maybe...but I like your music.

Definitely like that one - the singer reminds me so much of Chris Cornell. My guitarist loves that kind of clear tone, but we're much more blues-oriented as a band. I wish we could do those kinds of harmonies though LOL.

And just so I'm contributing something, here's the two most recent songs on my playlist:

              Bad Reputation

              Electric Worry
Back in 80 something...somewhere round 82 or so...myself and some friends were at six flags in Georgia. To make a long story short...

We didn't know there was going to be a Joan Jett concert going on. We didn't really care at the time who she was...but, we discovered she was giving an outdoor concert.

The concert was free, but from where we were (which none of us probably knew how we got there), we cut through a little forest to get to the concert. On the way through the woods we met a couple guys that were smokin some stuff. They freaked out thinking we were going to turn them in.

Being the quick thinker I was, I told them we were security and they had a couple choices. They could either surrender what they had or we'd have to take them in. Well, needless to say, I don't remember much that happened the rest of the night.

The Joan Jett thing brought back some memories.

Another one of those "What was I thinking" times

Some may not get into this...but I grew up on this kind of music.

    Still love listening to it.

    Speaking of memories...

In 1987 the biggest thrill in my life as a young stand up comic was opening for Joan Jett in Charleston SC. Feeling pretty special I moved to LA later that year looking for my stand up stardom.

It didn't take much to eclipse my Joan Jett resume' stuffer, however...

In 88 I got to open for Prince in concert. To date, I believe the only comic to do so. Yet, that wasn't the biggest part of that one night. The biggest part was the venue. I was overwhelmed by the fact that this unannounced midnight concert was being held at the Hollywood Palace, an historically significant venue. I don't know what happened to the palace after that. I like to think I was the last comic to work that room too.

Dreams of stardom quickly subsided as I settled in to a pretty decent little tv writing career for a while.

    Oh well... memories.

Thanks everyone for the great songs and stories.

    I actually played every song.

I can't think of anyone that posts in the Copywriting Forum that can't do great things this year.

    Happy New Year.

P.S. I ran out of thanks on my thanks button but I really enjoyed all the posts.

  • Being New Years Day, and with a slight hangover this is a soothing track.

    Or this one
