I'm not sure how this promo is doing but it hits the curiosity button and usually curiosity either flops or hits a homerun.

Upon thinking about it, I was trying to figure out what exactly apart from being funny that they where trying to achieve and I think they are essentially using it as a cheeky introduction.

So now you already know you going to have a visitor and you feel good about it.

Very smart and it sets them apart from all the other door knockers.

Ill still be telling my door knocker to take a hike though, or I usually just tell them im not the man of the house.

Yeah, that's right and guys like Frank Kern are always talking about this.

To the point, direct and honest.

Well I don't know about hearing pitches but if my own power company pulled a stunt like this for some sort of promo, I'd be a little happier to pay my bills!

I like it. Cheeky, witty and captivating at the same time.

  • I liked it a lot.

A good "offer" - almost irresistible.

With humor perfectly targeted - because 95.79% of Postcards and Flyers are heading for the bin.

The downside was saying that a rep will call - 98.795% of people don't want that.

It would have been so much better to offer an extra incentive - something free with a high perceived value - if the good people phone the energy company to get the "deal."

For a fast response they have to call by a certain date.

On the phone - if the energy company is looking for "up sells" they could highlight the benefits of a rep calling,"They'll do a full energy audit, no cost or commitment. Just to make sure you have the very best tariff and are reducing your costs" (they could even deliver the free gift).

And when they arrive (knowing it's always better by appointment rather than a random visit), they can try and sell any extra's - energy saving light bulbs, gadgets or gismo's..to help the customer save money.

Did a Lumo rep actually show up? Now that would be the real kicker....
