Chris Haddad's Latest VSL...

Fantastic opening. He makes an irresistible offer within the first minute. I also found it interesting how quickly he introduces the product (around 12 minutes in) and then proceeds to close hard for the next 20+ minutes.

I'm on his affiliate list and this is what he sent out yesterday:

OK, this is exciting and a little bit scary.

All week long my team and I have been hard at work getting ready for next week's BIG "Capture His Heart And Make Him Love You Forever" contest (where YOU can win cash, an iPad, consulting with me and a bunch of other stuff - not to mention 75% commissions on the front end and 50% commissions on the back end.)

We've been testing and tweaking every part of the funnel to maximize conversions and cash for you, and while we were getting things higher and higher, we just weren't able to get our sales video to the MASSIVE conversion rate we demand (and you expect) from our products.

It was "good" but it wasn't "amazing."

Then last night I did something kind of crazy - and damn did it pay off.

I'm actually in Washington, DC at the moment at Yanik Sylver's event. And yesterday afternoon after crunching the numbers and trying to think of how to get this offer up into the stratosphere I had a dangerous idea.

I ran off to Best Buy and grabbed the last USB mic they had on the shelf.

Then I spent 6 solid hours in my hotel room working side by side with my right hand woman to create something totally new.

It's not as "slick" as the old video.

It's not as "pretty" as the old video . . . but this new version had all the passion and punched-in-the-gut storytelling and cash-getting BALLS I could think of.

I started writing at 5PM and by 11PM I'd finished the recording and sent it off to our tech guy for processing.

All night I was sweating bullets, tossing and turning and wondering if I'd just wasted my time or done something crazy genius . . .

I told my team I wasn't even going to look at the stats until noon, but we all know that was a lie. At 8:30 AM I dragged my carcass out of bed and popped open the laptop.

I felt my throat go dry. I felt my heart pounding in my chest.

And I felt a huge grin rocket across my face.

Because we hadn't just BEAT our control for you.

We'd DESTROYED it.

On our internal traffic the new "3 Steps To Make A Man Love You" video got a astonishing, almost unbelievable 8% conversion rate (over the course of a couple hundred sales.)

Beating our old control by 400% even though the audio was a little grainy and the slides are nothing but words on a page.

Just goes to show you what good copy and some "Under the gun" passion can do.

Didn't seem like this one had the same magic. It's a little overproduced and you can tell the speaker is a speaker, not a pal from the bar.

I think the offer is a lot weaker than his others. I mean... I could be mistaken... but I don't think a long distance relationship is that appealing to most people.

I still give them credit for trying and putting it out there. For what it is, it's still pretty good.

I've been doing it for several years myself now. It's one of the best ways I've found to figure out what VSL's are working well in a given niche.

Sometimes I transcribe by hand myself but often I just outsource the transcription, then go through it and make my own detailed notes.

Yes. I do this all the time.

I actually started doing this for a million dollar copywriter a long time ago.

Once I did 2 good ones he needed (one was the solar control) I started to understand exactly how VSL's work. And I've been doing them ever since.

Chris is a guy that wised up and devoted his copy skills to enriching himself instead of others. I find him inspirational in that sense and you should too because honestly, I don't find the copy super persuasive and yet it's giving him a 7-figure income.

The video of him revealing his methods was excellent, right on point.

If you use Firefox, an easy way to snag those YouTube videos is the Download Helper plugin. The free version saves to MP4 or FLV. The paid version has more video formats as well as Mp3.

And if they don't use Youtube and hide their files and controls, fire up Camtasia and just record the damn thing. That's what I did on another site last week.

You can actually do it without the plugin if you use Firefox.

Just go to page source, search for a file ending (usually) with .mp4. In this case, the actual video url is

So, just highlight that, copy and paste it into a new tab. It will take a couple seconds to load, then, go to File --> Save Page As and bam! Now you've downloaded the video. Quick and easy.

Nice! One good thing about some of the plugins is they'll give you a choice of file size. Some of the Mp4s are getting huge these days and it's nice to be able to convert and download them at say 50%--it's faster and takes up less space so you can add lots more videos haha.

I just plug the Youtube link into KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more!
