Can You Help Me Find the Right Styles for My Site's Target Market?

Through market research, we've gained a better idea of our target audience; thus, we want to revamp our website and overall web presence, including YouTube videos.

Our services are focused on real estate owners and real estate investors located here in the Metro Detroit (Michigan) area.

Based on our research (and logic), we've identified that our target audience:

1. Live in the Metro Detroit area
2. Are males
3. Are aged between 45-54 years of age

With this information, I'd like to get a better idea of:

1. The ideal font size for copy on our website
2. The colors that would best fit this demographic
3. The appearance and style of conversation that's likely to build rapport w/ this demographic (for videos)
4. The type of copy that would have the best chance of connecting with this demographic
5. Ideal website layout

We are going to eventually hire a copywriter to do the final draft of the website copy.

But in the meantime, I'd like to create it myself.

From what I understand, a deep understanding of the target market for our services is vital for a good copywriter.

Because of this, I figured that the research I've done could help both myself, as well as the copywriter down the line.

My question:

How might I go about obtaining information that would help me get a better idea of items 1-5 listed above?

Thanks for your time and help

Do the copy and offer, then design your site.

Don't put up a site and then stick copy in the boxes or spaces you have available.

Generally speaking, your target market isn't going to go ga-ga for a certain font, although certain colors can help.

What's going to make your site work is if the target market resonates with your headline, lead and copy/offer...

...and if that is strong enough, it will work with black type on a white background.

  • A good font size for your market is Arial size 14. Use black type on white background. Be very limited in your use of italic font. Remember, most of your market will wear glasses, either for reading or general vision. So, a "minimalist" design will be attractive to your market. Also, if you use colour - blue is best. Don't clog your site up with adverts, especially flashing or moving ads because this confuses and distracts your target's attention and vision. If you'd like further info let me know.

That's the kind of information I'm looking for. Thank you!

Right now, the color scheme of the website is white and green. You think I should change it to white and blue? Why do you say blue is best?

I don't plan on having any advertisements on our website, as it's purpose is to:

      1. Inform buyers and sellers of our services
      2. Show our expertise and to build their trust in us
      3. To provide useful information to our target market
      4. To capture their information so that they can become subscribers to our mailing lists (one for investors/buyers, one for property owners/potential sellers)

After finding out the identity of our target market, I assume it would be best to have a more formal, professional image when I do my videos, do you agree?

Up to this point, I've been using a more informal, relaxed approach to conducting my videos, but I'm guessing that this image doesn't resonate well with my target market; would you agree?
