What if you had the chance to interview a TOP copywriter...

Hi Copy Warriors,

Consider this...

If you had the opportunity to sit down and interview a TOP copywriter for an hour, someone who's not only made a very nice living doing it, but is just crushing it...

And you could sit down with him or her and you could literally ask him anything you wanted, but you only had an hour to do so, then your time was up...

What would you REALLY want to know? I mean imagine your favorite copywriter if you follow one. You can ask anything. What top three things would you ask?

Thanks!

Marc

Most interesting way you've found a new client? Favorite adult beverage? What keeps you motivated during a rough patch? How much do you automate and what do you insist on handling personally? Which is your favorite Power Ranger? What is your favorite part of the research? Where did all the coffee go? I need more coffee.

    What was the question?

Maybe it's just me, but I recently had this opportunity in Raleigh. I hung out with Vin Montello, Colin Theriot, David Deutsch, Brian McCleod and many other copywriters. Interestingly enough, we never talked copy. We shot the shit.

But that may just be how I roll.

    Whatcha doin? New product?

I had 1 question for Gary Bencivenga.

Where was the ad that Dan Rosenthal ran which had the proposition,
"we will beat your control, if not you pay nothing and we will pay for print costs"

Gary kindly told me where it ran.

      Best,
      Ewen

        I'd want to know ...

        1. What's the biggest mistake a copyrighter can make?
        2. How to stay motivated to write, even when you don't want to?
        3. To what do you attribute your success?
        4. How do you know when a article is "good enough" versus perfect?
        5. What's the most interesting ethical dilemma you have faced as a copyrighter?

Where it ran? Or do you want to see the ad?

I have it and could send it off to you if you'd like.

I don't think that was an interview. I think that was called an assembly of your peers! Just saying.
