The 12 minute copywriting course. Is copywriting salesmanship?
Aristotle's Rhetoric and
Lajos Egri's The Art of Dramatic Writing
As well as Joe Campbell's anything.
In a recent post, it was suggested you watch some movies, especially The Music Man with Robert Preston.
Well, I know...so, here's a 12 minutes of Salesmanship, with my notes.
This is the opening, Rock Island. Use your imagination (you got one, eh?) and instead of salesman, think this a train full of Copywriters...there is the copynazi in the corner, yelling "what you talkin about"...sort of.
And instead of Prof. Hill, think of the late,
Sir
Gary
Halbert...and as the guy says telling the forum, er, train about Hill, he calls him an always on the bullseye SALESMAN.
Hill
Cold calls on small towns and sells band instruments and uniforms.
Then, in this scene watch him think. He's looking for a HOOK and note his keen copywriter's eye on what people are curious about.
Watch him plant the seed of desire. The clip starts dark, nothing wrong with it, give it a few seconds
Then, just one more look at his copy at the school, as he paints beautiful
FUTURE pictures and evokes involvement.
There you go, a 12 minutes or so of COPYWRITING/SALESMANSHIP wrapped in an entertaining way.

PS. Now go read some Shakespeare, especially,
Friends, Romans and Country men, lend me your ear.
Isn't that what you want, some of their attention???
