An enterprising 15-year-old from Houston is killing it with her fish-themed sandals that light up. Retail sales for last year totaled $1.2 million.

How did she get into Nordstrom? She sent the buyers a letter. Booya.

      Cool! I came up with a great idea for a new speech the other day, wrote up some sales copy, sent it out and got three bookings. Now I have to actually write the speech. Oy!

      Dad is the entrepreneur not his daughter. If it wasn't for him the pictures would have ended up in her scrapbook or in the rubbish.

      And you never sold chocolate bars at your job for your kid's school fundraiser lol.

      The point relevant to this forum is she used direct mail to get her product into Nordstrom. It's nearly impossible for anyone of any age to get an independent product into Nordstrom, one of the premier retailers on the planet.

      Btw, your comment is exactly the same as one from the Yahoo article. Are you ripping off comments word for word or republishing your own?

    This just goes to show we should never underestimate the creative power of our children. It is us adults who have limitations - their's is unlimited and it takes an example like this to spotlight it. A simple letter of introduction to an innovative idea can unleash a powerful reaction, this proves it.
