Writing great advertorials

Any recommendations?

I was just thinking about writing something like a college essay with a heavy slant toward my version of the truth, but is that the wisest thing to do? What is a good author to read to know how to do this?

Really depends on your definition of "college essay." I wrote as wordy as possible to meet the word count. Obviously, an advertorial can't be like that.

Give the reader valuable information, but still use most (if not all) of the copywriting "rules." Use only the number of words absolutely necessary. Write at the proper reading level. Grab their attention, and drive them from one sentence to the next until their engrossed in what you're saying.

And make sure whatever information you're sharing is interesting and will encourage them to buy. I've read too many ridiculous "advertorials" that we're either about blaringly obvious facts, or that were hardly related to the product.
