Why Isn't Facebook Converting For Me?

Hey guys,

I'm building my list with Facebook ads. Here's my ad copy:

"Get these 6 scientific diet & workout tricks to build lean muscle in 3 hours/week. Sign up now!"

I'm getting decent CTR. It leads to this landing page:

www.TheScienceofGettingRipped.com/fbs5

I'm getting 5-10% optins, which is much lower than I expected. I am testing different versions of my squeeze page as well. I'm thinking about a "sign up w/Facebook" type of plugin, but I can't find one.

I've even tried sending traffic to a presell page: www.TheScienceofGettingRipped.com which does slightly better and capturing interest from my readers. It leads to a sales page. If the user doesn't buy, they're presented with an optin popup to try to capture their email address.

Any ideas on how I could improve my sales funnel? I have tested traffic to my presell, and I see others doing this successfully, but I thought that it would be good to test building an email list as well.

Thanks
Raza

Just some ideas. The page looks great btw. Start testing the landing page: different headline, try a video instead of a picture, try some testimonials at the bottom of the landing page.

In other works now you have to start testing to increase your response to where it should be

The good news is you have traffic and some results Now you just need to tweak the funnel a bit to get it right. My .02

    I see several issues.

    1. The page took a long time to load for me. I don't know if that's an issue for anyone else, but definitely something worth looking into (especially if you use a shared host).

    2. The page doesn't motivate me to sign up AT ALL. All I see is a stock photo image of a ripped guy. I don't see any proof. I would be extremely wary to share my e-mail with you.

    3. As a Facebook surfer with a low attention span, I would never read all that text.I see the bullet points and I can't see how far down they go. I would just insta hit the back button.

    4. Your sign up with facebook looks horrible and it doesn't really explain anything.

    5. Your opt-in should be above the fold.

Overall your squeeze page is awful. Get split testing software and start from there. Or hire someone to do it for you.

Pretty much agree with all of this. Particularly #1.

No offense, but your page looks exactly like every single other page out there that wants an email address. Those types of pages might have got 60% opt-in rates in 2002, but today, everyone has seen them.

      Get creative. How about this...

When your page loads, it has a picture of smiling guy's face and the copy starts out and looks similar to a Facebook post...

"Hi, I'm Joe. If you're here it means you're interested in changing your physique, right? Well, let me tell you something... I used to be quite the fat-ass and I tried all kinds of stuff... stupid exercises (crossfit made me look like an idiot), diets (bro, where's my juicer?) and everything else you could imagine (berries anyone?).

Did these things help me not be a big fat-ass? Nope.

So, eventually, after looking like a squawking peacock at a crossfit session, I decided, 'screw this!' and went home to do research on my own...."

You can see where I'm heading with this. Story telling + pictures to illustrate that story can engage your readers, instantly. This can work a lot better than 90s style bullet lists. Once your readers are engaged and want to be like "Joe," throw that opt-in at them.

      Good luck.

Facebook ad gets me lots of traffic, but very little conversion when it comes to opting in also.

But I know that there are forum users here saying that conversion rates are high only when you get people to your Facebook page to get a like instead of having email opt in.

Who/what is your target market? That's what's important. Hopefully this isn't a generic ad available to everyone.

I think one issue that might help your opt in rate as a few other's have mentioned is having your opt in above the fold.

People are busy and have very short attention spans on the internet -- even shorter when on Facebook. Making them scroll down to find out where to sign up just makes them work harder and the result you have fewer people doing so.

    Raza,

You're in possibly the most fiercely competitive market online, surrounded by very smart, capable, and successful marketers who've been at it a very long time.

Nothing you're doing on any of the test pages you've linked is interesting in light of what the market has seen 1,000 times before.

Attention is the first sale, and you're losing it immediately... because there's nothing new or interesting to pay attention to.

I'm not telling you to give up - not even close.

I'm telling you to adjust your expectations inline with your positioning in this market and start getting more creative with your appeal/hook/USP...

One thing I can tell you - successful fitness and "get ripped" offers easily chew through enormous amounts of traffic scaling up to big profits... but there's a seemingly endless supply of that traffic to be had if you're good at buying it, testing it, and segmenting it.

Are you pre-selling affiliate offers or selling as a merchant?

Try some other way to promote your product. Also,If your website traffic is low, your split test results may not be correct over a short period of time. But keep in mind that even with low traffic, split testing is still a good idea. You will just need to test for a longer period of time, and be very patient.

Slow page load for me as well.

    No TITLE tag.

Under "Sign Up for My Free Course to Discover How Busy Guys Can Build Lean Muscle in 3 Hours/Week" it asks for my "Name" but not my email. A non-internet marketer might not even batt an eye at it and figure its asking for an email, but outside of the IM field you'll need to be VERY specific here.

Thanks for your reply BrianMcLeod. This is my own product. I'm testing sending traffic to a presell page with an informative article vs. to a squeeze page so they can enter my autoresponder series. So far, the presell, leading to the sales page is showing results... but it's still not profitable. I would like to build my email list though, and that's why I'm focusing on that at the moment.

Yeah, I'm testing multiple headlines, hooks, and squeeze page formats. I do know I'm in a very tough market, and I know testing is the only thing that will lead to better results.

There's a disconnect between my ad copy and my landing page copy because I am getting clicks to my landing page, but people just aren't opting in. I'm making sure that my ad copy matches my landing page so my users aren't surprised with something they weren't expecting.

I'm wondering if there's a better way to deal with Facebook traffic. Maybe a Facebook optin page?

      Thanks,
      Raza

Facebook traffic is not the best quility IMO. Some people make good money from FB traffic, but I never had much luck with it.

When you take people off of Facebook they tend to get a little annoyed and bounce away quickly. Make a fan page and a tab and have it point to the tab.

I would have to agree with both of the above. People don't go to Facebook to search for their weight loss or body building needs!

You'll have better results if you send that traffic to a Fanpage where you can build up a following and build some trust with your fans, sales are not overnight and it takes a little while.

For me, the opt-ins look too spammy.

Here are my tips for better conversions (based on my own squeeze pages that convert FB traffic at over 30%)

Re-word your heading as a question, not a statement about a free report. Eg. "Do you want me to tell you my own personal 6 secret tips for getting the abs you've always wanted?"

Put your opt-in box top-right of the page

Remove the header completely - it clearly looks like an advertisement with that product header

Put the bullet points next to the opt-in box, move the image down. It's taking up too much space where the reader could be learning something.

Put a second opt-in at the bottom of the page for when the user scrolls down

    Hope this helps

Getting over the hump with FB ads can be a challenge.

Split testing a LOT of pictures usually does the trick for me. As you may already know, ads can become blind to people that are on FB...especially if they are seeing the same images over and over again.

    I wish you the best!

There is not much information. Generally people who are your purchasers like seeing a lot of information, and mainly testimonials. There is a reason why so many ads say I lost 30 lbs in so and so time or something like that. You need more information. Also, I don't know about others but the page took slightly longer than I would have liked to load. Not a big deal, but it could definitely make a difference for some people!
