    Thanks, Joe, for this list,

    I use MailChimp a lot for the 2 organizations I belong to. Free and easy. Even though they just made changes, they weren't too drastic. I'm not partial to having services fix things that aren't broken.

    Open rates depend on the subject line and the target audience more than anything else. If you know what the people on the list want and your subject line nails it right on the mark, your open rate will be great.

    The further away you get from hitting their "I want this exact thing now" button, the further your open rate drops.

    I find this to be true more than deliverability or even spam filters.

    Those Mailchimp stats seem crazy high for "averages".

    The other two links seem more in line with what I'd expect.

      Whenever I forecast different service/product lines for my start-up, I typically figure .5-2% for e-mail advertising conversions. While the above stats typically show click-through rates which are not BUY rates, I do tend to think those are pretty high...but if they are true, that's good news!
