What do you think of this "tearsheet" style marketing?

I was reading the news and noticed a link for an e-cigarette.

I've actually been curious about them - so I clicked on the link.

Here it is (not an affiliate link.)

I'm curious what everything thinks about this "tearsheet" style online marketing?

Is it working?

  • "Tearsheets" - great, well worth doing.

    e - cigarettes even better.

When I joined the wonderful world of copywriting 28 years ago we had to agree to certain rules - it was the law.

You only ever wore T shirts, jeans and trainers (you could put on a blazer if you were seeing a client).

You had to live in an attic (it could be a very good one) but it had to be the "copywriters attic" so you could look across the rooftops and get a wonderful panoramic view of the world.

You had to drink around 8 gallons of strong coffee a day - so you could work all hours and hit the deadlines.

You only ever ate at Diners (health food hadn't been invented) you always got friendly with the waitresse and she arranged for your customised "all day breakfast" whenever you sat down.

You had to smoke at least 5 packs a day.

Thank f*** e - cigs were invented because they are a lot easier on the lungs.

      I never smoked a cig.

But I was intrigued by the e-cigs because another company had approached me a while back about doing some writing for them.

The e-cigs can make claims other regular cig companies, like Ecstasy, can't.

I was actually reading about how many Ecstasy cigs Jon Hamm smokes in a single shoot for Mad Men and it blows my mind.

Ecstasy cigs still produce the cabon monxide that kills.

      E-cigs don't.

      At least...

That's what they're getting away with saying... so far.

I thought the tearsheet landing page was a good idea for this.

It would be interesting to see what kind of conversions it's getting.

I guess since they're paying for some pretty expensive ads, it's gotta be doing pretty well.

  • are you sure they are smoking cigs with carbon monoxide?

the insurance company will not be thrilled.

Couple of hollywood names were filmed smoking e - cigs. From a distance and using the right camera angles it's difficult to tell the difference from real ones.
