So What Is It About Copywriting??

This may sound like a weird question ...

But having thought about it, I'm not quite sure what it is about copywriting that I happen to like so much.

I have written short stories, some essays, articles, journals ... okay, so I like writing, but writing copy inspires and excites me!

I get more enjoyment working on copy than I do any other form of writing. I get more excitement reading a good piece of copy I just finished than I do reading one of my finished short stories or essays.

But I'm just not sure what exactly attracts me to copywriting so much.

Can You Help Me Find Out?

* Is it the manipulative aspect of copywriting? I don't consider myself a manipulative person or someone who gets pleasure from manipulating others.

* Is it the influential/inspirational aspect of copywriting? Sure I enjoy influencing and inspiring, but other writing can influence and inspire as well, so why copywriting?

* Is it because copywriting gels with me? Though writing in general gels with me.

* Is it a control issue?

* A power issue?

* Is it because I'm helping people improve or make more money? This is a nice feeling and certainly a part of my attraction to copywriting, but ...

* Is it because it's a male dominated industry and I like competing with men?

So ... What Is It???

        When writing copy, it's good to say what you mean... don't make the reader figure it out.

        (Yes, there are certain "advanced" techniques that don't strictly adhere to this rule.)

        And it helps when posting on the forum too! LOL

        Me? I originally learned copywriting to sell my business broker lead generation system. Strictly a give value-make money motivation.

        But then my desire to learn kicked into high gear, and it's been a wild ride ever since!

    I think, it's all about controlling your own destiny. If you know copy and selling, then the world is your playground. You, have that much of an advantage..over others

    If you, know how to sell, then all is possible..simple as that!

    Power, control, manipulation, influence- all of these are the same things.

    It's the same thing artists get when they elicit emotional responses in audiences, when they make them laugh or cry. Copywriting is an especially compressed art form- a lot of meaning in a very small space. It's distilled, it's intense. I think that's why it's so fun.

    What I'm curious about is- would that change anything for you?

      Wouldn't change anything, no. I fell into copywriting a couple of years ago, began enjoying it right away, and never really thought of why it gave me more pleasure than other forms of writing.

      I have realized three things after posting this thread:

      1) I really like helping people grow their business, make more money, and generally improve their lives. And my primary way of achieving this is through copywriting.

      2) I also get a real buzz having successful, powerful, intelligent people I might respect, admire, or look up to, coming to me for help and me actually being able to do it!

      3) And finally .. copywriting is witchcraft! With it I can influence people, direct their thoughts, hypnotize them, temporarily manipulate their emotions, change the course of their decisions ...


      I Can Make Them Bow Down To Me!


      AND improve my own life in the process.
