Help with brand name and win $100

I sure hope it is allowed to setup a little competition in this forum - scanned the rules without finding anything prohibiting it so here we go.

We've been working for a while on a platform that allows you to manage thousands of different forums from one intuitive dashboard. This means that you can search multiple forums from one interface, monitor new mentions, create new discussions and engage in all discussions without leaving our platform. The target audience is mainly larger enterprises but it sure offers some benefits for smaller businesses as well.

The main value offered is the ability to connect and engage with customers that are discussing the brand or to connect and engage with potential leads.

Even though online forums are the main focus we're not sure we would like that to reflect in the brand name since that focus could be shifted in time.

The platform will be launched shortly but we are not really satisifed with the brand name we have today and after struggling with it for a while we thought we could try to get insipiration from the great copywriters here on Warriorforum.

So if you have any suggestion please post them in the thread and if we find a winner I will transfer $100 to your paypal account. It is a requirement that the .com domain is available for the suggested brand name.

Deadline: 9th of October.

    Hi,

If I understand you correctly, you will have a single dashboard from where you can interact with people that have oppinions, or search trough oppinions about a specific brand, so business case and target market would be all companies that sell something or have sold something and then need to ensure their brand stays in "good health".
I'v decided to choose words like brand and also activities like guarding, monitoring, controling, or anyways relating to beign a "control spot". Also, since it would be relatively easy to explain benefits to potential customers, I would also go for EZ or Easy variations (prefix or sufix).

Here are couple of suggestions, from the top of my head:

    BrandControler.com
    BrandControlPanel.com
    BrandControlMaster.com
    BrandDashMaster.com
    BrandMasterHub.com

    EZBrandGuardian.com
    EZBrandWatcher.com
    EZBrandManager.com

P.S. all domains were available at the time of the post (I'v checked it out).

    Regards,

    S.

Why all the stampede to have the word "brand" in the domain name? I much prefer the word "product(s)".

Short, memorable, catchy, relative, and available . . .

      productprod.com

      or

As long as there is an internet there will be forums. Having it in your name is actually THE bonus of distinction. You are monitoring all these forums so you have access to the participants quickly.

Contests don't have too good of a track record 'round here.

Aside from the competition that NickN won 2nd place for, how many of these things actually end well?

What happened to that big 30 grand challenge from those Romanians? Not much, eh?

I'm all for competitions. I think the idea is fantastic. But there has to be some sort of escrow set up for people to do this. Otherwise, it's just a shot in the dark that any follow through (i.e. payment) will actually occur.

      My take.

I apologize for being late with a response.

As Mark Pescetti mentioned we found out that there is a problem with these kind of competitions since a brand is that much more than a single name. It is how you use it and how you position your product and much more. Because of that I believe it was difficult to get a lot of the concepts that I am sure was backing up the suggested brand name.

I started this compeition with pure intentions and have received a ton of great feedback and suggestions that I really appreciate.

Thanks a lot to everyone that participated!

Unfortunately we will go for an idea that was suggested internally by our team.

The thing is though that even if we won't use any of the ideas in this thread they have been a tremendous help - they got our brains running when we needed it.

So we thought a bit on how to compensate the people that participated in the competition. One idea was to just split the money between a few of the suggestions that we really liked and another idea was to just split it to all since it is difficult to tell which ideas really helped in the brainstorming process.

But that would be kinda useless since the sum would be very small to each individual.

The only reasonable option for us is to, since we have a forum oriented product, is to just give a way a free membership to everyone that participated in the thread.

We are currently charging around $200 / month on the Swedish market so I believe there are some real value in that offer.

When the product is ready for online access I will reach out to the participants in the competition.

This didn't go as planned but I want everyone to know that their contibution really is appreciated and I hope there are no hard feelings

Just in case someone finds it interesting I can post some of the ideas we liked and what we thought about them.

            EngageDeck.com
            - Few syllables and it described the product pretty well. Sounded like a "startup name" and was close to winning.

            BrandScoutFM.com
            - Described the value a customer receives well. We understood how to play around with the branding. Close to winning but I think that it consisted of 3 words made us go with our internal suggestion instead.

            ReputationAdmin.com
            - Simple and easy to understand. Perhaps too many syllables which didn't really make it feel exactly right.

            ScoutPublic.com
            - Feels right and looks good. I just don't think it popped out even if everyone kinda liked it.

I think this thread is kind of a shame.

Even if the OP pays the money to someone who posted a branding idea, they're not getting the expertise for how to implement and position the concept into an effective campaign.

Which is the whole point of branding.

For now, I'm going to give OP a break on being tardy because he's in the midst of a startup, or maybe something else has happened.

As for branding, either his team will know what to do with the name they choose or,
hopefully, he will come back to hire you - or another Warrior - for that expertise.
Kind of a separate issue. Separate task that should be compensated anyway.

OP would probably benefit from the thoughts of the winner.
