Now THIS is what I call niche copywriting...

Back when I started copywriting for clients, I was told to pick a niche and start with that. Since I had huge success with fitness, I started there.

Never thought about porn though... but heck, it's the world's most trafficked niche...

X Copywriters - Adult Text, Pro Porn Copy & Paysite Review Writers

    mmmmm and lots of gasping...

Darling how was it for you?

    Really? 5 stars for effort.

    But shame about the speed?

    Ahh...

I was aiming for my personal best (dammit I thought I was doing a 100 metre sprint).

Sorry everyone I was practising for this new niche.

I actually started out in adult copy. I had worked as a manager for phone lines and web cam lines so I knew the business. It can be very lucrative if you treat it professionally. One of my first clients was a cam girl that needed weekly copy for her site. The reason she picked me was not for my background or experience. It was because I didn't pick on or make fun of what she did for a living. I treated it professionally and gave her professional results.

If you play your cards right, and treat the women in the industry with respect, you will see the money flow in. It's easy work compared to other writing gigs and the pay is amazing.

          Hey there.

When I decided I wanted to work from anywhere in the world with nothing more than a laptop and active Internet connection, I found out about copywriting.

When I found out about copywriting, I decided that looking at naked women all day was better than not looking at naked women all day.

          Need I say more?

Feel free to check out our portfolio for a good understanding of the services that professional writers can offer for the adult entertainment niche. I assure you that it's a lot more than producing titles for content.

If you guys have any questions, fire away: I was diverted here by a regular client who noticed our studio being mentioned.

All kidding aside, the adult porn industry is a multi-billion dollar per year industry.

The online portion of that industry is frequently more aggressive and more cutting edge with their SEO, traffic generation, and marketing tactics than any other niche, including IM.

They know who their target market is.

They know how to target them.

They know how to get them to buy again and again like clockwork.

Mal (screen name The Copy Nazi") has an old thread somewhere in this forum about some of the online breakthroughs that started initially in the porn industry. Two of them off the top of my head... membership sites and online streaming video.

WF member Brad Gosse has shared in more than one place that he learned how to really drive a lot of traffic from owning/running a porn website many years ago. He did a presentation at Yanik's Underground Seminar a few years ago about how he ranked #1 for a big keyword (I *think* it was actually for the keyword "porn") over thousands of competing sites.

          Food for thought,

          Mike

Hey, the first thing I tell anyone who I coach or help... is to try to become established in a niche and become known as the "go to" copywriter for that niche.

Even if you don't position yourself that way... over time, you start to find what you enjoy writing about, and what you're good at. Then, word of mouth kicks in and you become known for producing winners in that market.

Some of the world's best copywriters became known for producing top notch financial copy and health copy... and they take that and run with it.

So honestly, I love what you're doing. Heck, you'll never find a more popular, trafficked, desirable niche.

I was paid a ton of money a few years ago by a breast surgeon who hired me to redo his marketing for women looking to get implants. Needless to say... the research phase of the project was a blast.

I've written for a few big players in this niche last year, but something about it rubbed me the wrong way (pun intended??)

But one thing is for sure, they are HUGELY secretive and undercover.

Whether it's the fact they don't want others to know what they do, or it's because of a competition thing... there are some great writers in this niche.

You'll just never know about them.

I'm not a big porn type person...

My girlfriend is a model for one of the clothing lines I own a part of...but...

There have been a couple times when I've had to do some research and was forced to visit some porn sites. It was brutal. Seemed like one site linked to another then another. Before I knew it I had 20 or so windows open on my desk top. LOL.

Always thought the porn industry was mostly visual...contrary to the guys who say they read playboy for the articles.

Perhaps be a little more specific about what's wrong with the content we produce.

"Sucks big time" is one of the most pathetic replies you could give. What does that even mean? If you want to be a critic of someone else's writing, do it in an intelligent and logical fashion. Three words is really all you have to offer in the way of your impression of what we do?

        Great stuff there.

No...I wasn't making any puns, the samples are terrible.

Yeah, I have to side with Max5ty on this one, the writing isn't that good.

BUT... I don't like shitting on someone's parade without also trying to hand them an umbrella.

Look, you're in a GREAT niche where you can literally just show people to the door, and they'll buy.

So just try to get better and hone your craft.

You're on a board with a TON of good writers. Too many here to name.

So, you'll never be able to come on here and try to sell a sh*t sandwich and pass it off as prime rib.

Just take it for what it's worth... you're taking action, you're doing something, you're in the game... so just try to get better and hone your skills.

You have complete control over that... and like I said, you're in a GREAT niche.

It's easier said than done, but don't take offense to what's said here, just use it as motivation to get better and better.

Heck, my first letters I put up in 2001 or so, my 6 year old could write better copy than that.

But the willingness to never give up, to keep learning, and trying to improve... that goes a LONG way.

Bottom line, it is what it is, take off the rose colored glasses and just get better.

Your clients will thank you for it, because instead of needing to spend a bunch of money on Google Adwords, you'll have an entire line of past clients and referrals waiting to get on your dance card.

Shawn...I don't think this guy has any skills.

I think he's an IMer taking advantage of a niche. His writing sucks big time. I'm not even gonna take the time to critique his stuff because he's a pretender.

Is the hostility the result of you having a bad day at work? It seems very strange that you've come out lashing at me. Let's take a look:

        - I don't think he has skills
        - He sucks big time
        - He's a pretender
        - He's broke

Why would you speak to another human being like that? I'm sure you're not that type of person in real life. I'm sure you'd sit there and have a good conversation with me. I'm sure you wouldn't want people to think that you're the kind of person that goes around saying things like that.

I actually work quite hard. I spend a lot of my life thinking about writing, creating content, trying to actually make something of myself instead of resigning to a world where I'm doing a job I don't like with a shit boss and no future prospects.

        **** me, right?

I find it disgusting that you think it's reasonable for you to sit there and shit all over that without offering up some advice, or at least telling me what you think I need to work on. What sort of a warped world is it that you live in where you've got time to treat people like that?

        Have some respect.

I read the Dubai Escort piece. It is an article. It's not selling.

This is an industry where less is way more.

    A Picture, a slogan/tag/hook, a CTA.

It all comes down to traffic driving - and who's the best at it.

    There are exceptions though.

I once did copy for a young woman offering sensual massage in the SF Bay Area.

She was/is a real CMT - who gives a real massage. We did a video script, services page and about page. They were all written to position her (no pun intend this time) to appeal to high-end, classy, maybe married men - who just need a spark. But the copy also expressed boundaries and lots of pre-qualification.

Her pictures and video sold the service. Getting calls wasn't a problem. It was getting the calls SHE wanted. When she understood the power of positioning, she attracted the clientele that made her feel comfortable... and made a ton of money (like $2,400 a week + tips, which usually amounted to over $4,000.) And that was just working two sessions a day, 4 days a week.

This isn't an effort heavy niche. It requires strategic positioning. Again, less is more.

Yeah, I wrote that title because I had just gone on Google Adwords and searched "copywriters" and this came up.

I honestly didn't take a ton of time to read the site at the time, but since they were advertising copywriting on Adwords, and I knew they were targeting porn, hence the title.

but yeah, I agree with you both...

Also, as a side note, if you're going to pay for Adwords, make sure your f*ing site is actually up and running.

While I was on adwords, I noticed a "madisonavecopywriting" domain that was advertising.

But, the link goes to a dead page, a Database error.

      http://madisonavecopywriting.com/

So, this person has been advertising on Adwords, paying money, for at least a few days... and the site is dead.

Reminds me of the time where Halbert said he sent out a direct mail piece... and left off the contact info and telephone number!

    They've picked a brilliant niche.

Honestly though, I'd be surprised if these guys were having a load of success. Their site design and tone is not really consistent with the adult market and their samples make it look like they're playing for pretty low stakes (paid reviews and blog content). Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if this guy is just doing it for the free samples (lol)

Thanks shawnlebrun for the post and ultimately revealing a wide-open niche for copywriters.

Like many, I read the early comments, the usual byplay of "the writing sucks" by those who have no problem writing great stuff when they want.

I checked out the site you mentioned personally, read every scrap of copy displayed, and read it again -- and saw nothing but opportunity.

So, yesterday, I contacted by email (previously unknown to me, found them on G00GLE) 5 personal websites of companionship providers telling them what I do and could do for them. 3 replied with phone numbers to talk about what they need done. 2 are now customers.

I'm amazed that more of us aren't setting up separate writing websites for just this niche. The term "shooting fish in a barrel" is obvious, when the best parallel is "stepping over gold bricks to pick up dollars".

I especially can't believe I haven't been jumping all over this, especially since I have a better-than-average familiarity with the mindset of the industry's goliaths. Probably been trying to distance myself from earlier vulnerabilities while ignoring blatant opportunity.

    Thanks again shawnlebrun.

      AWESOME!

Yeah, I can tell you from experience... this niche is DYING for good writers. I've been offered many different gigs, but just decided to pass on it. With a young son running around the house... I didn't want to risk him seeing my "research"

A number of your posts elsewhere tell how writers need to focus on niches that have money in them.... Well, this is definitely one of those!

I have no doubt you've been turning down tons of work in this niche.

I just got off the phone with another new client I just found. She didn't even hesitate at my price. These customers "get" the value of quality. They want to upgrade the quality of their own clients, and they'll help you..., help them.

Thanks again for the heads up Shawn.
