Hi all,

Frank kern in his Mass Control product preaches that one of the best hooks or story angles to write your copy is 'hometown boy does good' theme.

This is where you show yourself to be average Joe who discovered some great money making plan and now is raking in thousands weekly.

I just wanted to get more clarification on the point that can you only use this theme if you yourself and your story resembles this them i.e average person who is now making thousands because of some discovery. OR as in my case this is not case because average I maybe but certainly not making thousands, then can I use this theme for my copy. If I do, will I be deviously misleading my prospects with such claims when I do not have anything to back it up, hence possible legal issues and troubles.

Its just that it is one of my favourite themes but I am not sure if I should use it myself for my copy for reasons stated above.

Your feedback is much appreciated.

Don't use it unless you really have made it big. Doesn't have to be big as Frank, but big enough, say, that you quit your day job and can support yourself via IM. If you could say that you'd be a legitimate player. There are a few reasons for this. 1) You wouldn't want someone to lie to you, right? 2) It's hard to maintain a lie. Your story won't be convincing nor will it resonate unless it's true. 3) The aforementioned legal problems. Frank himself had to deal with the gov't for years when they went after him for claims they thought he couldn't back up.

That is just one specific example of building EMPATHY with
the prospect. It doesn't have to be that particular angle.

It could be I was fat and now I'm thin, this is what I did.

I had acne and now I don't, this is what I used.

The basic idea is that you want to identify with your audience
and be their hero. In fact, this is the story line you want your
    testimonials to take.
