Copywriting teams / partners ?

Just a thought here. Having read a few threads from people wanting to break into copywriting or wanting to know how to make money from their writing etc.

It seems to me that it would make sense for groups of new / aspiring writers to team up on writing projects but I have yet to see this happening. Perhaps it is happening behind the scenes I don't know but it seems to be a very solitary, individual thing.

There are numerous advantages in a partnership whereby two people, for example, collaborate on writing a sales letter. Two sets of eyes, two brains tackling the problem and looking for the best ways to create good punchy copy.

The exception might be that sometimes a very particular personal style needs to stay really coherent throughout the page, but who knows when the right two styles might compliment each other (ala Lennon and McCartney, at the risk of making an excessively lofty comparison).

I don't see wannabes teaming together as a very good idea.

True, they might raise their collective skill level slightly (say from 2 to 3). But a much higher skill level is needed to satisfy clients and get results.

I'm not thinking really in terms of 'wannabes' improving their skill so much as the idea being about writers with some ability pooling their efforts in getting clients and building a portfolio and everything involved in gaining some momentum.

My very valid observation on here is that there are lots and lots of people trying to do everything themselves and many being overwhelmed in the process.

I'm in for hiring....looking for a lot of ad copy, but I'd rather not keep paying $200 for a test post :S Message me or add me on skype. If it's decent...you have a customer....if you suck...then you suck!

Cool. That's pretty much what I was saying, the advantage of a 'team' or partner, another set of fresh eyes looking at it and back and forth etc. Not to mention all the other tasks involved in getting biz etc.
