Landing page not converting. Any recommendations from LP experts?

I posted a thread several months ago asking for recommendations to improve my landing page, and implemented most (if not all) of them. Unfortunately I am still having problems with conversions (a conversion in this case being a proposal request).

Can any of you landing page experts out there let me know why this isn't converting? I have had one request/conversion over the last 2 months, and the bounce rate is VERY high.

Yeah, your page is still just so generic and vanilla, it's really not a wonder you're not getting what you want from it.

It's not answering anything about what's in it for the reader.

You gotta get specific. Exactly what can you do that will increase the traffic
    of the reader.

But more specifically, how will that help them increase customers, sales, profits,
    and cash flow.

Look, the bottom line is, why do people even care about what you do?

To rank better, right? why do they want to rank better?

    To get more customers right?

Why? To make more money, right?

So, you need to be specific right at top, in your headline and show the reader how you can make them more money.

All roads really lead to that.

Heck, in one of my copywriting sites... I converted 1 out of every 8 visitors into a phone call, quote, or email for more info.

I was getting 6 to 7 requests for info per day.

Now, a lot of that has to do with your traffic gen sources... I was using adwords so it's pretty targeted.

But right at the top, was basically a big fat promise showing the reader how I could help them increase sales, profits, and cash flow... and how.

Right now, you're talking about their traffic sucking... you want to put a very bold, specific promise at the top... one that's got balls... and then back it up.

You've got some good testimonials, and they've got some specific results in there too, so I would probably even use some of those as a headline... maybe a quote headline like...

"We went from 100+ ranking to number 1-3 in our categories in a matter of three months... resulting in X amount of new sales and profits"

But really, there's more than one way to skin a cat... you just have to think, bottom line, exactly what your prospects want, and then give THAT to them.

They want more sales, traffic, profits, and money.

So, talk about that in your headline.

Think of how YOU can do that for them, specifically.

Specifics sell, as long as you can back them up with proof.

Right now your page is like 1,000 others in your niche.

Be different, be unique, be bold.

Start at the top with a kick ass headline that specifically shows the reader what you can do for them, in terms of more money... and then have a couple of hard hitting bullet points under that, with proof and testimonials, and have your sign up form at the bottom.

For me, I like to EARN the sign up, so i won't have it near the top or side.

I put it at the bottom... because i first want to offer something to the reader, that shows them that what I've got will help, and is so valuable... they MUST sign up.

But yeah, you need to change from vanilla... to some Ben and Jerry's shit.

^^^ Great post Shawn. Thanks for taking the time to looking over the page and offer your recommendations. I am starting to come to the conclusion that I may not have the patience (or skill) to deliver what is needed. I know the price varies depending on the job and the copywriter, but what would be an average price for a job like this?

Well, you know when you have a poor page design + pathetic sales copy = poor conversions.

P.S. A good copy doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg for such a niche/market.

You are asking too much from the form.

It should be part of your big fat juicy offer
which has been worked out with your copywriter.

At the moment you don't have a client focused offer.

      Best,
      Ewen

Can't get any worse? Yikes. Not sure that I agree with that statement, but I appreciate the input nonetheless. Thank you to everyone that has offered their opinion.

You're not gonna like me when I say this, but people don't want what you have to offer.

I know, I know, everybody wants to be on page one. Everyone wants loads of search engine traffic for free.

Just like everybody wants to own Ferrari.

They want it, but they don't want what they think it will take to get it.

In other words, your strategy for lead acquisition is flawed. No amount eye-popping graphics or killer copy will overcome their reluctance.

You must fundamentally rethink how you get leads.

You should hit Ewen Mack up, he probably has some ideas.

      I do what I can, when I can... if I can't, then I won't... and I don't. Forget about it.

      True story though.

You CAN nail this in your sleep. (Which scares me.)

Shawn also gave some great advice.

      The bottom line is...

      The OP needs help.

Even if it's just a consult to figure out more effective positioning.

@shawnlebrun has some good points. Here are a few thoughts:

    1. Your headline is accusatory. I wouldn't take that approach. I know it's meant to be shocking but it puts people on the defensive, especially since you aren't an authority figure yet.

    2. The text is way to condensed. Your landing page should be easily skimmed. The message should be clear an concise and should provide a benefit to the reader.

    3. The form background is distracting. Black text on a neon blue background is hard to read.

    4. Your call to action is the most generic action text in software. "Submit" doesn't entice the user to do anything. What does the user get out of it? Put the action on the user and let them control it. Something along the lines of "Email me my free proposal".

    5. Your form asks too much information. You don't need the first and last name. You need the email. Maybe the first name to personalize communication.

    6. Your call to action button color conflicts with the form color. Use a button color and text color that provide contrast in a pleasing way. Orange button with white text for example.

    7. "Request a Free Proposal" is very disconnected. It's floating at the top out of place. Remove that or move it into the call to action.

    8. There is no branding. If I had to leave your page suddenly, give me something that I can Google to find you again.

    9. Remove the footer. It doesn't provide any value to the page. The news and the links at the bottom actually give your visitor a way out. Drive them to your call to action.

Hopefully you see a lesson here:

You can get a site to the first page of google...but it doesn't mean it'll convert.

You're trying to mix different professional skills into 1 easy fix.

I can get a page to convert, but haven't the slightest idea how to get it to the first page on google. Probably could spend a lot of time reading stuff and trying to figure it out...but still wouldn't be an expert without a lot of time invested.

You're taking your skills and now want someone with copywriting skills to give you a quick fix.

    Anyways...

I would like to talk to you about a trade for services if you're interested.

What everyone here said, plus the biggie... SLIM DOWN THAT FORM! Cut it down to the fewst number of fields possible for your business model. Really, if you can possibly get the info later, do it! This tweak alone, as much as I hate to say it, can be enough to save mediocre copy.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have spoke (via PM) to one of the writers in this thread, and plan to hire him soon to fix the page. I have basically arrived at the conclusion that I do not have the skill or patience to continually tweak the copy until it converts, so I am handing it over to an expert. Hopefully it is the right expert...lol.

  • hi there

Far too much info, the graphics are also pretty aweful.

3 things you need for this page and no more...

    1) grab their attention
    2) build enough curiousity for the freebie
    3) tell them how to take action

You've got a lot of good information right here in this thread you can use immediately. I wanted to add to it if that's okay.

As mentioned earlier your LP is vanilla that's because it talks to nobody and everybody at the same time.
    Here's what you should first:

1st: Pick a Market (or a sub-niche within a market) one where you can win and make money.

2nd: Do your research and find out who else specializes in serving the market or sub-niche you've chosen. Once you find them pay attention to there LP. What's their offer? What's unique about their services? How are they positioning themselves? How are they collecting prospective clients info? Etc.

You need this information so that you know how to position yourself in that market/sub-niche.

3rd: Contact some companies in your chosen market and do a freebie. (Yes, I said Freebie). You do the freebie so that prosepects see proof that you have the ability to do what you say you can. But you don't only do it just for the proof, you also now have a real live testimonial that gives your service credibility as well.

4th: After you've successfully ranked the site of your freebie client, then you reach out to all the other clients in that market/sub-niche you can find...and you sell your services with proof and testimonial in hand.

For example: If your freebie client is a dentist, rank his site! etc . And then sell the heck out of your services to every dentists you can find.

    Get the picture.

    Well that's just my 2¢
