No Sales On Product After 3 Months - PLEASE HELP

A few months back I was scammed by several PayPal users on my website. After losing a dispute to the first scammer and talking to a few PayPal employees I devised a system that has won my disputes for me more than 10 times since then. I created an e-book and a sales page at:

BeatPayPal.com

and it has had no sales.

I'm a content writer - articles, white papers, website content, etc., however in sales copy I'm a dud and need help. Even this request for help is BORING, and if you made it this far I appreciate it.

This page is missing the one
    thing that's completely vital
    to making sales online...

    PROOF.

You need to prove your own
claims, you need to show proof
    that other people have had
    success with your product.

    Before you start adjusting the
page, get some proof. If you
    don't, the conversions will
    always be terrible.

    Good luck.

    Once you've got proof in
    place, then you start
    thinking about tweaking
    the page and rewrites or
    whatever.

I would suggest you create a lead generation product on your front end. Something related to the solution.

This could be as simple as a story of the reality of this happening (and it does happen to many people) the pain of financial loss it creates etc.

Then upsell them to the main product.

The assumption being the sales page is the problem. How many visitors have you had to the sales page over the 3 months? If 1 person had bought during that time, what would your conversion rate have been? For example...

If 50 people visited the site, you'd need a 2% conversion rate to get 1 sale. That's doable with good copy and well targeted traffic.

If 5 people visited the site, you'd need a 20% conversion rate to get 1 sale. That's much harder to accomplish.

Until we know the visitor stats, it's hard to comment with authority on what the problem might be.

David's comment about the importance of proof is right on the money. If you have written testimonial evidence on letterhead, scan it and make the scan available online. This is more credible than two sentence endorsement by "A Person, Tx".

Apart from the usual tricks and techniques, I think you face a fundamental challenge that will have to be overcome to sell your book - human inertia.

Unless I (the prospect) am involved in a PayPal dispute right now, I'll almost certainly lack the motivation necessary to pay money for your ebook. Why? Because it promises a future payoff that I may or may not have need of, rather than instant gratification.

You're going to have to tell me why I have to buy it and read it today, rather than when I have a problem with PayPal.

    Following on from Megaresp's point
"You're going to have to tell me why I have to buy it and read it today, rather than when I have a problem with PayPal."

Try to focus the sales letter on
"tasks you have to put in place TODAY before scammers target you"

Even your introduction makes it feel like it could be something far off in the future and something not to be worried about just now

The main problem here isn't your copy; it's your offer. Selling prevention is tough and in this market you're definitely gonna be paddling upstream...

If you really want to go down this road then you're going to want to highlight the pain early and often. (Think Security Systems...)

        Right on.

I can't see a big hungry market for people with Paypal "dispute" problems.

Most people are probably only dealing with 1 item being disputed. It probably costs less than your ebook. And they probably just reply to the dispute rather than search for "insider secrets".

Now, if your product can get an account unfrozen... then you might be onto something. But even that probably has a fairly limited market.

Robert's onto it... Your writing style is great- wouldn't change your tone a bit.

I feel, though, that it's not "immediately painful" enough. The negative points are displayed in a "matter of fact" kinda tone.

People live in the now, so focus on emotions- you want to stir up the pain real goood and make them "feel" it now.

Don't forget to give them the contrast as well- where they'll be after they own your product, and how great that will feel... 10 feet tall and bullet-proof (Don't just rely on relief- what's their reward?).

Think "stick and carrot" to get your prospects to move the way you want them. Some are moved by pain, some by reward, but all by both. Make them feel it.

On the technical side- maybe add something relevant to the offer, like a newsletter (i.e. scam report warnings) which would simultaneously build your list.

Then, perhaps, promote affiliate programs dealing with online security, identity theft, loss prevention... ya get the point.

Also, I couldn't find your meta tags for "robots" or "keywords"... You know better than I do how much traffic you're getting, but if you're lacking- that may have something to do with it.

Another trick is for any and all images where it is appropriate, use your favorite keyword as part of the alt text (shows when you hover your mouse)- i.e. pics of your products.

I think you have a good product idea, and I'm sure a launch (which is way more than just publishing a site) would do it some good... look around here, and check out JV Forum to find some partners if you haven't yet.

Tweak your copy and tags, then launch it with a JV- couldn't hurt, right?

I just had a lightbulb idea... *what if* you made that eBook part of a package deal? The Paypal dispute market may not be so big... but it IS relevant to online business.

Something like, "Now that you know how to make money, learn how to KEEP making money" Things can and just might go wrong in the millions-on-autopilot world, therefore people will need things like:

    Paypal protection
    Hacker protection
    Scam protection
    Computer protection
How to deal with your webhost

A lot of people are concerned with how to start a business. We all know that only a select few ever take action, but the ones that DO might not even consider thieves who look for the "thank you" page or anticipate the day Paypal decides their business is not legit and freezes their account.

A bit of a larger market, and people will think they're getting a special deal. Just an idea

I agree with most of the advice posted above. Very helpful suggestions, indeed. I believe that in re-writing your main focus should be on PREVENTION. "You don't want this to happen to you!"... I know I would buy this e-book if I had paypal disputes... but... I don't have issues.

In what ways can you "scare" me into thinking, "I might have a paypal dispute in the future, and I need to have this e-book to cover my butt."

Testimonials. Get quality testimonials that show why this is good for prevention, and why they absolutely need this book if they are working with PayPal

Here is another suggestion you may consider.

Your headline when you start discussing the price is:

Okay, So How Much Will This Set Me Back?

Critical Error! Your product is not going to set them back... It's going to SAVE THEM MONEY! AND LOTS OF IT! All of the discussion about how you could sell it for $97 and get lots of money doing so is garbage. Trash it.

Instead, I suggest you focus on the VALUE of the product.

How Much Can This Save Me?

When you lose a PayPal dispute you lose the sale. That means you have to give the money back. But, PayPal also charges a dispute fee!? What is that!?

How much can your customer potentially lose, and in turn, how much can your product save them? It should be a significant amount. Also, remind them that the scammers are going to be laughing all the way to the bank with their money. That will tick people off.

You also use the word "Measly" when you introduce the price? Would another word be beneficial?

      Perhaps:

      Learn What I Know Works For A Measly $97.00 $67.00 A Measly $29.97!

      Could be:

Stop Scammers From Stealing Your Money For The Limited Low Price of $29.97!

      It's just a suggestion.

      Hope this helps!

I would strongly advise AGAINST trying to sell prevention.

People don't go search for solutions to problems they might have in the future.

You'll always be swimming up stream trying to sell prevention.
