Ideas for promoting freeware

Do you think freeware needs good copy? I have just launched a free app for writers at jessegilbert.com

I am wondering if I need to 'sell' it like 'Astonishing Software Improves Copywriting Within Minutes of First Use' etc...

I'm also looking for testimonials from copywriters if you find it to be useful.

I want to get something like 100k downloads and a top rank in Google so any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks,

    Thanks,
Since you're asking the reader to take an action, good copy will get you more opt-ins than lousy copy.

Put the link after you've described what they're getting... not before.

A headline would be good, but don't make it hypey. Sorry, your software is not "astonishing".
