Funny stuff Rick. I saw this on Facebook yesterday and was gonna check it out but got distracted.

Funny thing is, this already exists for women... it's called Spanx.

Yep, I wonder whether Old Spice will get any backlash from the avid users of Spanx for taking the mic.

Caught this too. Many other prank websites with different videos. Hilarious stuff

Their ads remind me of the jabs Gary Vaynerchuk was talking about - entertainment. They're probably going for brand association instead of convincing you to buy immediately. Or more of viral sharing for more exposure. People tend to share pranks or entertaining stuff I guess.

Noted the associations they covertly made too.

With ads like these, it shakes up my sense of what's possible.

For instance, I'll see an ad like this and I'll think "that'll never work" and next thing you know, they're breaking sales records. The Dodge Durango/Ron Burgundy campaign comes to mind.

So these days my "that'll never work" sense is a sign of a breakout winner.

As for all the other Spanx and covert references, I only watched it once but I was just too mesmerized to notice.

Well, since they promised over 8 ounces of gold in every headset for $89.99...

The campaign looks like another brand marketing entertainment project searching for viral distribution... sure, that'll probably work.
