Is a $97 copywriter more "reasonable" than a $30,000 copywriter?

What's good but reasonable? Why not give some more details
about your market, your budget and expectation than use those
    broad terms?

    devyn,

Come on now... do at least the tiniest bit of homework here.

Do a search... you'll find tons of copywriters here. If that doesn't work, post a little about your project.

Tell us what the niche is... your deadline... an what "reasonable" means to you.

Because there are some who post on here who actually think something in the "hundreds" is reasonable. It is not. Any halfway decent copywriter is going to be more than that... The good ones 10 times or more than that.

    Again... about your "homework."

If you did a simple search you'd see a recent thread about this very topic. I say recent because someone with 10 posts pops in here every few days looking for exactly what you're looking for.

Anyway, here is the recent thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...r-writers.html

So... come on... a little respect at least. We're not article writers or bloggers. We're not chomping at the bit waiting for you to come in looking for 2 cent a word writers. We're marketing professionals who use our skills and talents to make you money.

What's with the attitude? I just came on board and am trying to make sense of the forum. I've tried to contact people directly but can't because I don't have enough posts...anyway, I figured that someone would be willing to give me feedback regarding a copywriter they've used and were very happy with. I didn't realize that only copywriters would respond, rather people who have used some of the copywriters and loved their work.

Thanks for the thread, I'll take a look at it.

Devyn... no attitude, I promise you that. I'm just trying to save you time and save the thread from going awry.

You need some specificity. Even marketers who aren't copywriters need to know what you consider reasonable, or how can they help you?

My clients find my rates to be quite reasonable. Now what if they recommended me and I was priced 10K above your budget. That's just wasting time for everyone.

The part you may have taken as attitude was really just a hint. I mean, isn't forum posting 101 that you search for answers before asking a question that is likely to have been asked before? Again... it saves everyone's time... even yours.

Skilled copywriters can provide a lot of value beyond
churning-out salespages for the kind of "me-too" products
a lot of Internet Marketing folks are publishing... like
the next "make money on Twitter" thing, which, because
such things are not easily differentiated from one another
by consumers... are generally quick-in, quick-out
    opportunities.

But the kind of writer/consultant who can assist you to
build a long-term business is a different matter. You can
get a salesletter written for $100. You won't get the
foundation of an empire for that however.

  • *sigh* You guys, Devyn didn't state his budget here. The posts above are making a lot of assumptions based off of one word. You said it yourself, Ray - $30,000 may be reasonable to some people. You don't know what he is asking for.

Devyn, check your PMs. I've asked you a couple of questions regarding your project. IF I can't help you for your budget, I can probably point you in the direction of your best options. I've also sent my email in a separate PM, since I just noticed you can't reply. Best of luck to you!

Yet even with Vin's posts... you still don't post your budget, niche, timeframe, or anything else that may help.

    *Sigh*.

And yes, that IS attitude. Know why? As others mentioned, every day people come in here, ask for a copywriter, then whinge that a marketing professional who makes craptonnes of money for you isn't willing to work for minimum wage... then hires some useless copywriter for $97 because it's more "reasonable" then comes back and whinges that the copy didn't convert...

    ...which surprises no one.

I don't have a problem with ignorance. But I DO have a problem with, as Paul Myers puts it, "premeditated stupidity".
