NLP newbies: Crash course in NLP

NLP is psychotherapy if you believe it can achieve what it claims.

And that's half the point, it's about belief.

Now that's not a bad thing.

I worked with some NLP practitioners here in the UK a few years ago, including Richard Bandler. If people "get it" they can get a lot out of it.

I use re-framing techniques every day for example.

However there is a lot of charlatan crap out there.

NLP can be really effective and there is a lot of good stuff within the NLP teachings.

However, like jazbo said, there is a lot rubbish being taught.

I'm a certified NLP practitioner having been taught by John Grinder (co-creator with Richard Bandler).

I would never consider learning from a less reputable source.

NLP is just a repackaged version of Alfred Korzybski's theory of General semantics.

I'm shocked at how many NLP enthusiasts don't know that.

Shame because I've studied both and GS is a lot more scientific and credible.

Apparently, just Alfred didn't do a good job marketing at marketing General Semantics. His delivery was too academic. But if you can suck down a cup of coffee and stay awake, you'll learn a hell of a lot more from his works than you will from the NLP founders.

Believe it or not, the NLP for dummies is pretty damn clear and comprehensible.

Of course, Bandler's classic...

AMAZING stuff in there...especially the section about the "Silent Level."

And, if you can stay awake and grasp the concepts in here (I had to read it a few times because the language was so thick), this one is a total ballbuster...
