Good short copy examples?

Posting an ad in a magazine and only have very limited space (maybe 500 - 750 words or so). Anyone can share some good examples of successful short copy?

This is a classic example of a very good short ad:

What makes it work, I think, is the fact that...

    A) It makes effective use of HUMOR. There's a reason this thing went epically viral; it just stands out and grabs you by the neck and DEMANDS you pay attention, right from the part where he points to the sign and says "Are our blades any good? no... OUR BLADES ARE ****IN' GREAT!" It just stands out as FUNNY in a way hardly any other ads are.

    B) It makes a great offer... $1 to have blades sent to your house. My first reaction was, "you kidding? Can you even turn a profit on that?" I'm still not even sure how they do it (funnily enough, looking up this website as part of writing this post now has me thinking about signing up).

Magazine copy is a little different from video copy but not by that much... The basic principles are...

    - Do something quirky to get attention.
    - Use humor (or else some other strong emotion like nostalgia).
    - Make sure the offer is great.

Short copy can be *MADE* to convert just as well as long copy, it just takes a lot more ingenuity and novelty.

Go down to your local chapters and pick up any of the leading magazines. There are tons of examples of ads that run over and over again.

When I wrote a piece for Forbes magazine I studied several within the same market, three months prior. Those ads that run consistently... well you get it.

That makes a lot of sense Jon. It is a good idea to look at other people who are already successful and see what they are doing.
