Move your sign, I'll add a comma

Subaru of Wichita is dealing with a labor dispute. The protesters prepared their sign and dug in. The dealer responded with their own sign.

When the protesters moved their sign, the dealer used punctuation to deftly counter again.

That's brilliant. Wonder there wasn't a punch-up. Or was there? Or was it indeed a set-up?

Here's the best part (if you're his marketing department): In the last few days, he's had over 300 calls from the media.

So often... people negatively react - when their business is attacked... they take stuff personally (and it is personal.)

But being able to take a step back and see the marketing potential - like this - is fantastic.

It takes balls to go against a union like that too. It could bring on tons of scrutiny. But if they feel bulletproof (by focusing on how great their prices are,) mostly good stuff will come from it.

    That's Witchita, Kansas, right?

This is a case of knowing your customer. Kansas is well known for being pretty conservative. If someone doesn't straight up hate unions, he's at least uncomfortable with union bullying.

When the Subaru Dealer pokes fun at unions, it builds camaraderie with it's prospects. It says "we're on the same side."

I've got a friend who runs a business in Witchita. In that part of the country, business is all about smiles, handshakes, and face-to-face deals.

There's gonna be a lot more Subarus driving around Witchita pretty soon.

LOL my man is on the opposite side of the fence. I showed this to him and laughed at the dealership's creativity. He told me about all the kinds of evil things he'd do to their cars while they were out making fun of the picketers.

There's definitely a pretty ballsy risk going up against unions, I s'pose. I don't know much about it, but BF does. I wonder if there'll be a follow up?

If this person was serious, they have some serious mental problems!

He lives in California without a sense of humor, right .

California unions are no joke, man. I don't approve of what the boyfriend likes to do on picket lines, but I ain't the one out there waving the signs or doing the manual labor.

The union moved their sign again, and the dealership created a dance video in response.

Now that is a really creative campaign. With all the media coverage they got I bet they sold some cars. Maybe not to employees. But to business owners for sure.
