I actually love copywriting, am I a weirdo?

I thought I would dread copywriting for my business, but I actually love it....

I have been cranking out sales laters, and learning more and more after each one. I know they always say learn by doing, and that can not be more true with copywriting.

If I do hit walls I go back to some of my favorite resources, like "The Ultimate Sales Letter" by Dan Kennedy, or scan through some of my favorite infomarketing sites, it gets me new ideas and gets me right back on track.

Anyways sorry for the blabbing, just sometimes its nice to celebrate small victories, and as a new poster here I can't wait to celebrate those victories with you all as well!

Anyone else actually enjoy the process?

When is copywriting the most fun for you, and when is it the most challenging?

Sometimes, when I'm writing, I get in a "zone" and before I know it three hours have gone by. It's one of the most enjoyable experiences in the world.

I totally agree! Sometimes after 5 hours I say to myself, "did i write this"!?

      Very enjoyable indeed.

Most highly successful (as in financially prosperous) copyrighters love their job, otherwise they wouldn't be able to devote so much time to it. Then again, I think this is likely true of any niche or job, the more you love it, the longer you will stay with it and the better you will become.

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm new to copywriting and I L-O-V-E it! Who knew it could be so gratifying?! It just takes me awhile since I've recently begun, but it is a perfectionists dream job.

  • So something so satisfying when you see your copy and you just KNOW that it's good. It does take a lot of practice to get there. You have to go through a ton of bum copies before learning how to write a great one each and every time. But the rush of knowing that copy you wrote works can't be beat =)

Ohh.. I didn't know Gary Halbert hate copywriting. What I know is he is the best.
Well, I don't really enjoy copywriting too. Will I be his next successor?

I realize this is random, but since we're on the subject (sort of), I just have to say- for normal everyday text, my favorite font hands down is Georgia.

Georgia is a beautiful font, indeed...

      however...

...serif fonts improve readability in print, but not on screen.
Sans-serif fonts work better on screen.

      Do I love copywriting?
      What's the product?
If it's a good product which can bring real value to buyers, that simply needs to have the spotlight shine on it ...
      YEAH...few things are cooler.
If it's for a hack job, something someone lumped together to just pull cash out of other people's pockets....not so much.

...the ability to "mind meld" with other brains, other human beings, to incorporate the radical vastness of human experience and hone it down to a specific experience, a specific transaction...can be such a transcendent experience to almost be holy.

.I do constantly feel my creativity pushed to the limits, which is something I enjoy...allowing the phoenix to rise...to bring beauty, good cheer, hope and many other things.

Copy rightly invades ALL parts of the marketing (and, indeed, business) process. It ain't just for emails and salesletters...

...there's a need for copy in every part of a product lifecycle.

Copywriting is feeling transmuted into words. In order to be great, it has to be.

Joy is one feeling. One color of the rainbow. What else can you tap into? The more you can channel, the harder the copy hits.

Sometimes the pain is a good sign. It means you're feeling the pain of the prospect. It means you're reaching deep into your reservoirs of feeling, experience, practice. And it means that when you deliver that baby you're gonna feel like a million bucks.

    All's well that ends well.

I've always loved writing. I've always loved marketing. And I've always loved psychology.

Copywriting brings all three together -- I'm very glad I stumbled upon this art form.

I think Copywriting is one of those types of careers where the people who're are doing it actually enjoy it (oftentimes).

What would determine if you're successful or not in something you do is how much time and effort you're willing to put into it to be successful..

I didn't know that Gary hated copywriting but the things he did (e.g he ALWAYS used to write his ads by hand and studied his markets like a mofo) it doesn't surprise me that he's one of the best this planet has ever seen.
