I Just Hired A Copywriter

For once in my miserable life, I've done the right thing.

I just hired a copywriter to do my sales letter.

They sent me a questionnaire that was very much in depth in order to even determine whether or not they'd take the project, the sign of a pro. They took it. So that at least gives me confidence that this thing has a chance. I know no copywriter can guarantee anything but I'm feeling confident.

I know a lot of people here felt I was beyond helping. I'm going to prove that they're wrong. I guess we have to reach a point where things get so bad that we have no choice but to stop acting like an ass.

I want to apologize to everybody who I gave a hard time here to. For what it's worth, I'm taking all the advice that I was given here and implementing it. I'm going to need additional help in how to attract affiliates but I know that's beyond the scope of this sub forum. Since we don't have a dedicated affiliate marketing forum here I'm not sure where to go for help, but I'll figure it out.

If you're wondering what finally pushed me over the edge to finally being responsible and taking responsibility for my own actions and mistakes, it was looking at my wife and seeing a woman who has now been supporting me for close to 2 years without saying one word about it. She is the most amazing woman I've ever known and she deserves better.

I'm going to make this work. I don't know how long it will take or how hard I will have to work to make it work, but I will make this work.

My personal thank you to everybody who gave me the kick in the ass that I needed to finally get to this point.

I will come back to this forum someday and report back on how this all went. It might be some time from now depending on how right I am about this market, but I will be back.

For those of you hedging on whether or not to hire a copywriter, nobody was more against it than me. I'm telling you from the bottom of my heart. Unless you're absolutely sure you can do the job yourself, get a copywriter. At least give yourself the best chance to succeed.

That's what I'm going to do.

Well give us some detail... How much did you pay? Where did you find him/her? What kinda list do you plan to reach? Email or snail-mail letter?

Then let us know the results. (And post the letter too, once it's no longer in play...)

Frankly, it's none of your business. Or anybody else's here.

        wtf?

Actually, nothing anyone writes here is anyone else's business. But since it's a discussion forum, people ask questions, float ideas, etc. Get off your high horse.

        You're just "piling on"...

        Not a good look.

The delivery was harsh, but I get it. If it were me, I definitely wouldn't tell. Too many swipe happy people out there.

          Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Steven, your reason, the tipping point, for taking action was the
same reason Jeff Walker got him into action.

He was a stay at home dad looking after the kids when one day his
wife said he had to contribute to the household more
because it was getting too much for her.

Often it's the one's you love the most is the motivator
              to get off one's butt.

              Best,
              Ewen

Makes sense. I really wasn't expecting him to tell. Certainly not demanding him to tell. Nor coercing, etc., etc..

But as long as it doesn't hurt to ask, there's nothing wrong with asking.

"Frankly, it's none of your business" on the other hand, is stating the obvious in an abrasive way with the intent to censor (presumably ) ... after the fact, on behalf of someone else. Wasn't even his post to respond to.

            Which is worse?

It's just typical forum psychology. I'm one of the less popular posters, so he's trying to fit in by "piling on."

He wouldn't have said that to you, sethczerepak.

Who else here supplies the information you requested? Why should Steve???

You asked for private information that nobody else shares. Not cool.

When you start writing copy for clients, you'll get what I'm saying.

There's nothing wrong with asking a question. There's much more wrong with appointing yourself censor. I guess people should second-guess the questions they ask because Mister Censor is sniffing around the forum? Get off your high horse.

If the o.p. doesn't want to answer, I think he simply won't answer. Don't try to censor what people write on open forums, unless it's offensive.

            Oh right -- "not cool".

If "not cool" were in the dictionary, I know what pic would nicely illustrate the definition.

You're being a judgmental ass. And insultingly presumptuous to boot.

Your "none of your business" comment adds zero value to the discussion. My questions are about things that -- should the o.p. want to reveal them -- we'd all like to know (including you quite likely).

All your comments in this topic thus far have been to me. Zero about the original post.
Do you have anything to say about the original post?

I don't think most people want that in the open, would you? If no, why would you ask? Don't you believe in "treat others as you want to be treated?"??

    Steve -

You seem like a smart , bright guy. I don't know much about internet marketing as I am new to this. I do know that you must be will to risk failure to achieve success. So risk it . Be Smart. And tell your wife you love her often and treat her like she is one in a million. She is. Good luck you're on the right track. Stay positive.

Reminds me of the guy who asked a buxom woman, "Are they real or did you pay for 'em?" When she slapped his face, he protested, "What are you trying to do... censor me?"

Some questions are appropriate... some questions are not.

I agree, some questions are not appropriate to ask imo.

I wasn't going to reply to the request for info but because of all the fuss about this, I think I will now.

Normally, I wouldn't care. But because I really need this to work, and have no idea who is reading this forum and in whose hands this info will fall, I don't dare risk divulging anymore info than what I already have.

After the product is launched, I might share what was done. For now, I'd prefer just to keep my mouth shut.

I have already received and filled out the copywriting questionnaire and it looks like we're a go. I'm not expecting miracles here but I think I've hit upon a tight enough niche, competition wise, that I can get a decent chunk of it. There's really not a lot out there targeting this market but there is something, which tells me there is a demand. Monthly searches aren't off the charts or anything like that (this is definitely longtail stuff) but it's enough that I can easily see me making 1 to 2K a month which is all I need.

      We'll find out soon enough.

Having read plenty of your writing, myself, in the past, I confess I was instinctively surprised that you should be employing a copywriter.

But, thinking about it a bit more, maybe you're quite right - kind of along the lines of lawyers who look after their own legal affairs having a fool for a client, or whatever? Wishing you a very successful outcome with this, Steven!

        .

Alexa, all the copy I've ever written was for MMO products. This is a new area for me, one that I may not be good in. Why take chances? You're right, I may very well have a fool for a client if I did it myself.

And if it doesn't work out, I can always rewrite it myself to see if I can do any better. There is no failure here. There is only working at it until I succeed with it, however long that takes.

Thanks for being in my corner, as always.
