Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help.

Is it possible to post a link to blog posts about copywriting on this forum? I cannot find a sticky about forum rules.

Many thanks!

Thank you. I would not be spamming, it would be a post from my own website where we give copywriting tips.

Thank you! It does not appear to be that active...is it a subscription service?

I would caution you against it unless you have a specific purpose. If it's just to educate newbs, why not copy and paste the entirety of it here? If it's just to have a link back to your site from a reputable forum without actually providing helpful info, well...we know what those look like.

Yea, posting something valuable you find on Copyblogger or something is one thing... plugging your own stuff is another matter.

          I guess we'll never know.

Tell you what, PM it to me, if it's good, I'll post it for you (I probably won't post it for you).

Copy and pasting is a good idea, perhaps I will do that....thank you! As for links back to my own site, I think there are much more creative ways to do this, hence why I asked the question in the first place. I don't want to break any rules

As far as I can see this is a very helpful forum and I would like to be part of this community.. however, some of the posts I have read do seem to have an element of mistrust, but I suppose on a forum of this size this is inevitable.

Well, I pose this question to you:

What would be the purpose of sharing your blog posts?

I've seen it done well here. Rick Duris is an example. A link in his sig, understated. The occasional mention of it in threads that are RELATED to the subject at hand. I don't see a problem with that, strategically speaking. He offers posts of value.

I've also seen it done VERY poorly.

Colin Theriot talks about this in his Cult of Copy.

NO ONE in a group likes it when an outsider comes in. Especially when the group members have earned their stripes, so to speak, and the outsider has not. Then the outsider tries to take advantage of the group (selling something) or worse, tries to school the group (educating/showing off).

        Then you have outright rebellion.

To post effectively in here, you gotta be a member of the club more or less. You've gotta participate, not just drop in a C&P thread from time to time. Not saying that's what you'd do. You've engaged plenty on this thread to give me high hopes for your contributions.

Just sayin'...do it wisely. From the inside. Don't be an outsider. We don't need schooling. But we do need an infusion of fresh perspective and ideas. Can you help with that?

That's not true. I'm not a member of the club and I just post anyways. Maybe I get a lot of backlash all the time, but the important thing is to not give a f...

My purpose of sharing would be to let others know my thoughts/tips on copywriting, provide a different perspective maybe and also to generate discussion and get other people's input and thoughts (which I can see wouldn't be too hard here .

I find that many times following a blog/article/post those who make comments usually come up with some little gem I would never have thought of - which in my opinion benefits everyone. Likewise if someone were to feel my input was a load of old tosh then so be it.

I agree with your observation re groups. I am a long serving member on another forum (completely unrelated to copywriting) and I love it when a new member joins - new blood and all that. But sometimes it is a case of 'heard it all before mate'.

As for high hopes on my future contributions...I hope you won't be disappointed.

Thanks again for your input, it has been very helpful.

If you want to share, do it HERE - in the thread, on the forum.

Drive-by link drops tend to have a distinctly short shelf life.

Thank you for your advice. I think I will copy and paste as another poster suggested.
