Does closing your eyes or looking away from the computer help you type faster?

Whenever I have writer's block or I can't think of what to write, I close my eyes or stare at something else, and I find it easier to type out my thoughts. Maybe this method can help some people out.

Does anyone else do something similar to this that they want to share, or perhaps even go to the extreme as to turn off their monitor while they type?

I think so if you close your eyes, you are able to think more wider and deeper and that is the reason you can write well if you close your eyes. Talking about closing your eyes or looking away from the computer actually means not to give attention to whatever else you are doing and concentrate on what you want to think
It sometimes happen to me as well when i want to think deeply about something then i just close my eyes and my imagination becomes more wider
    Thanks

I'm just the opposite, I pretty much have to look at the screen.

I look at the screen and the keyboard. If I closed my eyes I couldn't type a thing.

Dr. Joe Vitale, suggests to turn off your screen in order to shut down your criticizing mind that will analyze everything and get you lost on the way of your creative outburst...
