In b4 delete..cause all my questions get deleted for no reason..anyways :

I am planning to open an online store to sell nutritional supplements. How will I handle all the phone calls and emails on my own ? Won't I need to hire people to do this job ?

I've been running 30+ online stores for 14 years by myself (only a few vendors dropship, the rest I pack and ship), so I guess it depends on what you can do yourself.

It really depends on how big you want to grow your business and how many orders you do. Drop shippers handle the fulfillment for you, so you might be able to handle everything on your own when you're just starting out. You may need to hire help to handle customer support calls/emails when you start getting large order volumes.

A lot of it will have to do with your niche selection. Some niches require way more customer support than others, in which case you might have to hire someone to handle the phones. More generic consumers goods or things people already know they want, however, may not require much customer support.

It's also about automating and putting systems in place as fast as possible.

Just a suggestion - you may want to consider using Amazon's FBA model for selling part of your inventory. You basically send some inventory to an Amazon warehouse, they listed it on their site (HUGE buyer traffic!), they ship to the customer and than take care of all customer service issues.

This is a bit different that the business model you have in mind but you get the advantage of far more buyer traffice viewing your product on Amazon and the customer service end is taken care of. Also your shipping cost (to Amazon) are very low. You can start very small and see how it works for you. Just something to think about.

Depends how efficient your automation is, small business <200%, Amazon 1,100%, Google 2,000%. If you can outsource at multiple levels then your efficiency goes up, sitting at a desk taking chat and phone calls it goes down.
