I understand the premise that importing your own product is the way to go and middle men are not profitable BUT, What are the cons of Worldwide Brands. I'm sure that one could eventually find all the dealers and manufacturers they list but in my mind they do that for you for about a $1 per day. What am I missing?

    I guess I'm missing something. So the consensus is there's a better way or it doesn't work or it's a scam........ It looks to me like they are performing a search service for less than $1/day?

    WWB is absolutely NOT a scam and they're not a search engine. They vet each and every supplier in their database and they turn down a lot of applicants. They have a rather stringent set of questions and check the assertions of the suppliers. And if they get complaints from members they investigate and have removed companies in the past. How do I know this? It's because I know the founder and have been in their offices many times. Of course, does their process absolutely guarantee there are no unscrupulous suppliers? No, because situations change so it's always up to us to be careful and do our due diligence.

    There are a lot of people here that love them and have excellent things to say about their directory...

    I paid the $300 access fee to see what it's all about and while it's not a scam, I didn't find it very useful. A lot of the companies listed their are middle-men suppliers and the site looks like it was built in 1995.

    If you're totally new to this business it could be worth it to join and get started. However, IMHO you're better off sourcing suppliers on your own.

    I think that the biggest of the cons you are missing is the massive profit difference between buying from wholesalers and buying direct from overseas manufacturers.

    WorldwideBrands do not provide a list of manufacturers. Under their logo is their motto: "Certifying Wholesalers Since 1999".

    A great many of the wholesalers they list buy their products from the manufacturers in China and other countries. How do wholesalers make their money? They buy direct from the factory -- add their margin -- and you pay the extra.

    The price difference between buying direct and buying from wholesalers can be staggering.

    Not at all. I understand the difference in the profit margin but if one needs to find product with zero investment in inventory until you have a bankroll that allows you to import on your on (I'll probably be buying your book soon) then I'm not sure why it's a bad investment unless you want to take the 300.00 and only offer one product or only 300 worth of inventory on a web site. That's all I'm getting at. I'm all in when it come to something better but I don't think I can import with 300.00? All suggestions and input welcome and you can't hurt my feelings

      I have had a number of students start off with $300 - $500 and do well out of it, but they have almost all sold through eBay. Starting off with your own eCommerce site is not easy regardless of how many products you have for sale.

      It is a slow process if you only have a small amount of capital, but by putting profits back into the next order you can increase your product range or increase your inventory depending on how well the product sells.

      The critical factors are:
      • Make sure you choose your product wisely. You must get all the figures right as Auctiondebteliminator teaches. You must know that the product will sell, for how much, and what your selling costs are. Then you can start sourcing.
      • Selling a single product with a very high profit margin is in my opinion a far better way to get started than to dropship hundreds of products that are being sold by everyone else at extremely low margins.
      • Buy direct from the overseas factory and not from the wholesalers and traders who are listed in their thousands on places like Alibaba under the guise of being manufacturers.
      • If you buy right, you can afford to import small quantities with rapid delivery, and as the stock sells you repeat the process.
