Video Content from Youtube

Hello, I've been lurking on this forum for about a year and I haven't seen this issue addressed yet and wondering if anyone has any ideas on what the best approach is and if you've tried it.

I'm an FBA and EBAY seller with gross sales around 50k for the year to date with profits being a little more than half that. For being in the game just about a year some thing it's great, I think it's just a start. This is not my primary source of income as I have a full time job. Making money is great, but I enjoy the game of buying and selling, moving product, meeting my personal sales goals, and having the sense of accomplishment more than just seeing the money hit the bank account. I'm not rich, but can easily survive without selling online.

Anyway, here's the question. Has anyone tried to approach the creators of youtube videos to mention the product they are selling in the video. For example, a mechanic posts videos and has thousands of followers, doesn't mention any brand specific tools or where to buy them. You happen to sell tools on amazon and it would be great for him to say, "I bought this wrench on amazon from TheWrenchSeller and the link is posted below". How would you approach this, or is it just crazy thinking?

I'm aware I could create a channel and make the videos myself, but the time to build a following of thousands of people requires a time commitment that I just don't have.

I look forward to hearing from the pros.

While I may not be a "pro" I do think that your idea of promoting your FBA and ebay products on youtube has some merit.

I would not "approach the creators of youtube videos" but rather make you own videos to promote your product(s). Of course this would make sense if you have an ongoing source for that item so it is always part of your inventory. A video demonstating the use and explaining the benefits would appeal to viewers with those needs. Use keywords that would make sense of course. Those are just my thoughts.

Thanks, but as I mentioned, creating videos for the products, and attracting the followers that other creators already have isn't practical at the moment. I've got a 40hr full time job, family, shuttle service for 2 kids doing sports, etc.

I was hoping to somehow use the success of others video work to promote my products, even if I had to fork over some cash. Just wondering if others have tried this angle?
