Need advice on scaling our ecommerce business

We had our best year ever and really came to learn who our target market is. The question I have is how is best way to scale reaching our target market. We are relatively new company (2 years) so that must be factored in to marketing plan. The only thing I have paid money on so far is getting facebook likes. That was used to gain some initial credibility by having few thousand likes. I have not set up a landing page yet for advertising purpose. Below are some ideas I am looking at:

1. Bing advertising
2. Comparison shopping search engines
3. Amazon
4. Facebook advertising (not for likes but for opt-ins)
5. mailing inserts
6. sending free samples to people have have big followings on instagram in our niche.
7. Generating content - this is far down my list for reason. I have zero interest in being
journalist and would rather run the company. Each time I try to find content writer
I am thoroughly unimpressed and have basically walked away from this avenue.

Thoughts?

Thanks
C

All of your ideas are great.

First, I would start advertising on PPC. Bing, Google and so on. If you haven't already, you might want to explore shopping channels like Pricegrabber. They're also a good source of hungry buyers!

Reaching out to bloggers and magazines can also be a great way to make lots of sales - especially if you give them a voucher code to put in their posts/articles when they write about your company or products.

There are lots of ways to market, scale and grow your ecommerce business - at the end of the day some methods will work better than others for you - it's a case of trial and error in many respects.

I would use PPC< get that right and make sure you are building an email list.
We can send an email list and it can make £15,000 over a week end,.

Make sure you have re targeting / re marketing set up with in AdWords.

make sure you also have shopping campaigns with dynamic re targeting set up.

The biggest piece of the puzzle is making sure you site converts well. I have worked on a lot of ecommerce websites where they convert at 1%, ours converts at 6-7% and that makes a massive difference.

make sure the customer does not have to think about what to do next. Think about the customer journey. If you sell big ticket items, send the straight to check out, if they are small items and you want people to keep shopping leave them on the product page so they can keep shopping.

    Test what works relentlessly.

There is tonnes of clever on site things you can do to make it work better which is automated, such as sending an automated email to people who created an account but didnt purchase with a 5% discount code, this can convert at 30% plus.

There is an absolute mountain of things you can do, if you need extra advice just ask. 1 of my e commerce sites makes £150k + per month)

PPC is always good for scaling up as you can get instant results and measure, test etc.

If you have a product based shopping site consider using Google FEED. You can either use this on your own or run through aggregated comparison shopping sites.

Don't overlook content in particular video. People love to see video reviews and unboxing type vids.

Also if you start to video content you can extract transcripts via say REV and convert that into the articles or web content you require.

That is also an easy way to create Kindle around your niche. Embed links back to product from the Kindle.

Making video content yields good results with links from Youtube and Vimeo plus you can make just about avery other written content with the transcription method.
