Is it possible to get a profit margin of 500-900% if you import from China?
I've did the market research, checked eBay prices, but still cannot believe it. Does anyone from you import from China?

Belong to what goods you import. The normal number would be 200% to 300%, but for higher you need to find some special products

too good to be true in the sense that your profit margin can't be 100% or more, but your mark up can be 500-900%.

    Yes, it's possible though.

You mean the mark up can be 500-900%, but profit margin cannot be more than 100%?

I don't think it will work... You will not be the only one who imports from China and the others will have lower prices. No one will buy from you.

It can definitely happen. Trust me.

However do your homework. Verify the supplier and make sure they are legit. Order samples and try to start with small orders to minimize your risk.

But 400-800% profit (or more) is definitely feasible.

  • I don't think you're asking the right question.

You should be asking, 'can I make an appropriate dollar amount per item?'

Think of it this way: Say you have an item that has a 900% markup, but the DOLLAR amount you make is, say, $2.42.

Your price would be extremely low, but the DOLLAR amount you make is terrible.

You should be asking, 'how much will I make per sale,' instead.

Many times people want to sell items that are 'small, and easy to ship' because they want to avoid the shipping fees.

They say the same thing with eBay/Paypal fees.

If you are ALREADY taking these prices into account, then it DOESN'T matter what the fees/shipping are.

If something costs me 600 dollars to ship- because it's huge, , but I make 1500 on it, then why would I complain?

Same thing applies, mathematically, to a 'margin.'

I can make 160 bucks on a '10% margin' that I have PREDICTED accurately that I'd make because of current market worth,

or I can make 500% markup and make four-and-a-half smackers.
