Wasn't sure where else to ask this, I figured someone here has probably run in to this.

I registered a business with my state and have a DBA for it to get a tax id for wholesale/dropship purposes. The website I'll be using will be under a different name. Will I need to get a DBA for the website also or does it really matter?

What is a DBA? We are not mind readers.

No, you do not need to get a DBA. You can use your existing DBA (Doing Business As) when you register for your payment processor. My only advice is when someone buys from your store, in the order confirmation, just let them know the charge will show up as xyz instead of your site. I just use my LLC name with no DBA and I have only had 1 charge back that I can remember due to them not knowing the name.

    Here's what I did:

-I incorporated Sample Business name LLC
    -I have 4 other registered DBA's

Only one incorporation and one set of taxes. One legal entity. But I can receive checks/payment in 5 different names. I did that because I have a few small businesses and didnt want multiple bank accounts or have to pay taxes for each mini business of mine but wanted each to receive payment in its own name.

iwillbeontop has it right -- same thing for us. We have our Corporation registered in Georgia, but have many, many DBAs. If you have yoru business listed with D&B (Dunn and Bradstreet) be sure and update the DBAs there. If you're trying to get credit lines with a vendor, perhaps, they check this.

It usually makes the most sense to register a single business entity with a GENERAL name that will work for all stores, that way you don't have to get a separate DBA for ever store you want to launch.

If we have a store that REALLY takes off, we will get a DBA or even a separate business entity for it specifically.
