Hello guys, this is my first post in WForum.

Lately, I am thinking about dropshipping. I have some experience on ebay as a seller. I am using ebay for 5 years. Anyway, i have some questions that i will post regurarly (whenever i have time), regarding this method. First of all, I would like to ask how can I ensure that the delivered item has been delivered and it is undamaged. Secondly, is there a way to make beautiful listings of the product(s)? I have find a site called activa.com but I am not sure how it works.
Last but not least. HOW can i find a wholesaler? I mean where to search? Do i need to contact him and make a deal with him?

Thank you guys for your time!

P.S My English suck big time, hope my post makes sense!

I have 12 years of experience and have built close to 100 stores using the dropship model, so it's fair to say I have some experience in this area!

You really treat this just like any ecommerce store would. You have shipping policies listed and customers contact you directly if there's shipping damage or any other problems. Better suppliers will happily assist you when damages occur. You simply notify them that one of your customers received a damaged item and provide the tracking details & order #. From there they typically send out a replacement item and handle the shipping damage claim themselves. Each supplier is different, but this is the most typical scenario I've seen.

I'm not a big eBay seller, but I'm quite confident Activa is just a platform to assist in creating custom/attractive eBay listings. If your plan is to sell on eBay and only eBay this will probably work great. If you want to create a standalone website for your brand, that's a different story.

It really depends on what type of products you want to sell. Generally we contact manufacturers directly and if they won't dropship they will usually share contact details for the larger distributors that buy in massive bulk from them. You can also find factories in Asia that are willing to sell to you in light bulk or possibly even dropship items direct to your customers.

So this is something not easily answered. Also this is information that is usually not given away freely. It usually takes some inside knowledge of how the business works. I would tell you right away that if you are looking to pay a monthly fee to a company that gives you lists than you will probably fail. The best way to find companies who dropship is to contact the companies directly. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I also do web design for shopify and setup the site for dropshipping. If you wish to do business I will gladly help you build a profitable site.

      Hello,
I saw your reply to a post in regards to finding a dropshipping company. I recently started dropshipping from amazon and Dropcom.net which deals with returns of items. Supplies are spotty at best right now and im only able to profit around 1k each month with over 100 sales.. Not much to go on.

I guess the purpose of this message is to make a connection. Hopefully get some information on how I can turn this into a bigger success!

I wanted to thank you in advance for any and all help!

      Sincerely,
      Robert Sutton

Dropcom.net is a scam. Read the contact us and other fine print.

Don't even know how you would do that. There is nothing on the site. No privacy policy, no contact, no about us. But they do state this "Did we mention that the products have a 30% MINIMUM MARKUP" Most likely the difference between MSRP and their price that does not reflect reality at all.

Alibaba and Aliexpress and Ebay are all the places I use for arbitrage to find wholesale items or even direct from the manufacturer in China, mostly.

If you are sourcing through Alibaba or Aliexpress you will most likely be buying from a trader, not a manufacturer.

The reason is that Alibaba and their retail offshoot Aliexpress accept anything that suppliers tell them, without checking. The great majority of traders on those sites pretend to be manufacturers.

Interesting that people are working on arbitrage thru these sites.
      Wouldn't the eBay 10% + Paypal 3.9% fee a headache for you?

I know your website is only a week old, but you really should put some contact details there if you want people to buy from you. Where are the products stored? Are they to be shipped from China?

Dropship resellers need to know that and they also need to know returns policy.

Well, I would like to say, you need to think about what kind of products you wanna sell. If you have a good knowledge about your niche, then you need to contact with the wholesaler and talk frankly, what kind of commissions you would be offered.

Don't go through a wholesaler, they kill your margins, go straight to the supplier =)

Absolutely right. The wholesalers buy from the manufacturer and add a big margin before they sell to you.

You can keep that extra margin for yourself if you buy direct from the manufacturers, but you will find that local manufacturers won't usually talk to you.

That is why so many people are learning how to buy direct from the manufacturers overseas. They will welcome you with open arms.

The profit margins can be huge. Here is an email I received recently from one of my book buyers:

"Ok. From extremely skeptical to successful completion. Credit given where credit is due. I followed the book instructions you laid out. Took my time to double check everything and was able to successfully import an order from China. Not only that but it was also a “sample order” for less than 300.00. A 300% mark up has allowed to get initial investment back and I have 70% of my inventory left. Stop promoting your book. Your encouraging competition for me Many thanks." Email on file for FTC inspection if required.

If anyone is thinking about to get more profit in dropshipping, then he should have a touch with the supplier, because wholesalers are ready to kill your profit as they already added their commission, so for better profit you need to contact with the supplier and discuss with them.

Don't go through eBay, Amazon, Alibaba, WorldWideBrands or any other middle man. Get approved straight from the supplier and build your own website using something like Shopify, BigCommerce or WooCommerce.

Here is what I made from one of my dropshipping stores last month:

Last month and especially this past week has been a bit slow but overall I still made $17k in sales resulting in a bit over $2,000 in profit for the month.

    Expenses were as followed:
    $433.13 in Google Ads
    $57.54 in Amazon Ads
$3.33 in Facebook Ads (for retargeting)
    $63.20 to Shopify
    $161.00 to Phone Support
$10.00 to Virtual Assistant (5 hours total)

    Total Profit: $2,180 +/-

Your month's turnover of $17K looks impressive but your gross profit margin of about 12% is incredibly low.

In my post#10 above I quoted a newbie client who made a 300% markup on his first small order. Now that's the kind of margin I like to work on.

When I began selling franchises for my importing business back in 1992 I promised my franchisees that they could expect a minimum markup of 250%. Now those who know about franchising are aware that if such promises are not kept, you will be sued.

Nobody ever sued me, and I had a franchise network operating in 4 countries until I was forced to retire (health problems) 22 years later. I keep in touch and the new owner tells me they are all, with one exception, still making 6 figure profits.

Those high profits for relatively small turnover, and small workload, depend on buying direct from the real manufacturers, not from the fake manufacturers listed on the big B2B sites.

I have a huge file of emails from people who have started small and are making very big margins by following my methods for safely finding genuine manufacturers and how to make sure you get the best prices.

Here is a recent post on this forum:
"I purchased his book last week, it's an awesome book! Straight to the point.. And didn't have to waste my time reading many worthless pages!! I found many manufacturers, and drop-shippers. But to be honest I don't want everyone buying his book, so I won't have as much competition!! "

I would be happy to post more, (like the one from a former franchisee of my importing business who wrote: "Its nice to make that occasional $50,000 for half a days work) but the moderators might decide that I am being self-promotional. They are all provable to satisfy FTC if needed.

i currently dropship from amazon, walmart, kmart sears and wayfair. I do about 100k a month in sales with about 10k in profits. The policies are very important with respect to protecting your busniess. Peopel shop on ebay mainly to buy from other people so all the big pretty listings dont make a huge different. I have split tested regular listings iwth fancy looking listings and they dont make a noticeable difference.
