Hi everyone, I'm a mechatronics engineer working on my first startup and I'm kind of nervous about how should I do things for getting initial traction and to launch. I've read a few books about it, we use the lean startup methodology, I've watch a lot of entrepreneurship video blogs, conferences, online classes and now I'm trying to apply all that knowledge in practice, that's why your feedback will be a major help for my team and I.

We're working in this mobile app focus in connect sellers with the people who want their products/service immediately by personal messages, no middle men, just a direct conversation between sellers and buyers, we call this app... Sellow.

The app will be available to download the third week of March and I want to know what you think about the work that my team and I are doing.

You can visit our home here: Sellow

thanks and all the best!

Israel

I checked out the site but I'm not sure exactly what the sellers would be selling. Are these physical products that can be sold on ebay/amazon? Or are these ads/services?

Sellers would be selling physical products like the ones they can sell on ebay/amazon and also services. What was your first thought when you visite the site?, why are you get confuse about what kind of products can be sold on Sellow?

Sorry but it could be my work browser (IE) not rendering the entire page properly. I'll have to check it out at home and share my thoughts.

Pretty cool concept. I'd consider doing a nice "explainer" video on that landing page (above the fold). It's kind of a challenging concept to explain via text and animated graphics and I think people will bail before fully "getting it" without one.

Ok, it would be better instead of just explaining the concept to show how to do it? or what your recommendation would be?

I agree a video would be great to explain (Skype had great videos for explaining products, check it out they might still have them).

    Nice concept.

Nice style but definitely needs a video with a nice voice over to better explain the service.

This seems like a great concept to me and I can see a bright future for this app. Just focus on social media marketing and paid advertisements to get traffic when it goes live.

Not sure if your potential market includes anything and everything that can be bought or sold, or if this app will be used in more specific markets.

For the sake of your marketing efforts, I would try to identify some wide-appeal market segments to kick this product off.

The concept sounds great, but you need to convey the uses / benefits - "why do I need this app"? You need to convey this information as instantly as you can with say a simple above the fold stop motion 4-5 frame animation showing simple universally recognized graphics that will show concept and benefit. After the animation plays out, the 4-5 frame change to another set of universally recognized graphics depicting yet another simple transaction with benefit using the app.

You get messages from sellers in a specific range near you, wherever you are.

Well, the concept of website design is really nice. But, I think, you need to add some inner pages in your website, because it's displaying as a landing page. If you add some more business, then it is really beneficial for you as well as your customers, who are continually make an attention over your website.

  • When selling an idea - you need to make sure that people 'get it' right away.

Think of a sales pitch for it. If people REALLY like this product/service, it's because it was DEMONSTRATED.

If you demonstrate something that creates wide-eyes and magic filling through people's bones, then you've done it correctly. Make sure they don't have to research by clicking on a lot.

    Sell it by demonstration.
