Can't make any sales on EBay

Can someone explain me why I am not making any sales? I have:

-Researched the market and know that this product has a good selling percentage ( completed listings section shows that more than 90% of these products are being sold);
-Analyzed every single competitor. Moreover, provided better descriptions than they do, uploaded video in the listing, provided an audio description and better customer service.
I even give customers more than anyone else. Meaning that with a sale, they get something additional (like additional parts, accessories and smth).
-I have great pictures
-My listing is #2 among the 1,600 listings.

I might think that this can be because of a too small niche. Even though I am the best at it, there is no demand.

Any other explanations? Thanks in advance.

eBay is effectively a B2B market and it's imploding on itself, you can take a look at a couple of posts made about irrational sellers/buyers, it will provide you some insight. Are seeing the same thing, can't even give things away, it's a deer in headlights moment. There is currently a race to the bottom which causes everyone to just wait, and wait, and wait. Maybe you should consider moving over to Amazon and some of the other marketplaces, there are some pretty good (and crazily free) sync tools. You now need to generate more traffic than one marketplace can supply plus have your own website and organic traffic, basically it's saturating one-person businesses time and turning/turned almost everyone into fruitcakes.

The thing is that I have 2 products, and I make on average 6 sales a day with one, and I have not made any sales with the other one for a week. So as you can see, EBay can still be profitable.
I think it is because the niche is too small for the other product

If it's a newer product that will make a difference, they are all fiddling with the internals to be more profitable which will take out new sellers along the way. As mentioned, it's now about diversification across channels and marketplaces and countries.

I believe a primary reason may be the way ebay operates it's specials with regard to sellers. Rather than encouraging promotions associated with free listings with regard to relisted products, the special offers only provide you with free listings for brand spanking new items. Truthfully, in case you undergo all of the checking to list a product, ebay ought to allow you to retain it listed until it finally sells. It seems sensible, the greater choices buyers possess, the greater items they are going to buy. And effort associated with obtaining the item classified by primary. I believe there can also be a problem using the way they will be upon us soon on the web search. An over-all look for goods are most likely not yielding the things involving to appear. A lot of ebay sellers tend to be frustrated with auction web sites which they probably are shedding off in legions. Ebay much better take action because whatever business they may be trying is not really working. It must be affecting their income. The much less the vendor sells, the actual less money earns.

  • Okay - I'm pretty sure I can figure out your issues.

#1 - Your price - many people think that selling items for an average price means your turnover will increase. This isn't the case. You need to sell it for the MARKET worth for that item. The completed listings don't tell you everything, unless you know what you're looking for.
#2 - Your format. Finding the maximum price is one thing, but what are the 'smartest kids in the class' doing? If you replicate their strategy, you replicate their result. This also means the percentage does. not. matter. So long as you can sell it for a higher price, you're fine.
#3 - So far, you're ranking high - and that is the BIGGEST factor for your listings (depending on the keywords typed in) however, just because you're ranking high does NOT mean you'll sell it! You need to funnel the traffic to that specific action you desire. Why? Well, it's the whole point of eBay. Also - the more actions you receive the higher your rank AND turnover over time.

So, to summarize, you need to:
    -Find the maximum price
    -Find the effective format
    -Rank high
-Convince people to buy from you.

I've been practicing this, and have taught, thousands of people for years.

    Thanks again,

Hello Auctiondebteliminator, thank you for such an informative answer.

#1 - In this case, it would be very difficult to find out the real market price. It is difficult to explain, but I have several different items put into one set, and then I sell it all as ONE. For example: 99% of Ebay sellers that sell 3D printers, only sell the actual printer and that's it. 1% of sellers (let's say it is me), they additionally add filaments, different nozzles and etc. so buyers don't need to purchase them separately. Why I do this? Because buyers will be forced to buy those things if they want it or not, because 3D printer will not be able to function without nozzles and filaments. (It is just an example, I don't sell 3D printers) So it makes it difficult to find out the market price, because no one else is doing like that.
However, my price is a higher than most other sellers charge, because I provide greater value.

#2 - By format you meant auction or fixed price?

#3 - That is true. My only traffic source is Ebay. I should begin doing something additionally.

So basically what you are saying is you are the MOST expensive listing on the page?

Forget value and all the add ons and all of that. bottom line you are have the highest price tag. I would suggest placing a product as listed like everyone else. stripped of the value and compare the click rates between the 2.

THAT will more than likely show you what is going on. The worst thing that could happen is that you sell the other "needed" products from your own site with the flyer that you drop in the box.. with a new customer coupon for 10% off or something.

STOP fighting the good fight.. you are loosing. give people what they want at the price they are looking for. And them upsell them for not doing the research they should have done before buying.

PS I would keep both listings running at the same time 1 package deal ( everything you need to get started ) and #2 just the unit by itself.

  • Antis -

Finding the market price isn't terribly difficult as you can see the history of the sold items. However, even if you don't have any replicates to look at, you can 'test' or 'create' your own market worth that steadily increases as you saturate the market.

You still need to know your costs to 'solve for x' in a market price. Once you can do that, you're golden.

However, if the market doesn't agree with your needed pricing, you need to move onto another product.

On point #2, yes, I'm referring to the auction or fixed price.

    Enjoy!

It is based on your credibility as a seller. Become a Powerseller. Start selling low priced items with great value. Get a lot of positive ratings/feedbacks.

By doing this, you should gain a spike in sales in your current listing.
