Thinking about selling Overstock/ Returned Items, Any Thoughts?

I've noticed that there are companies out there like Genco who will sell bulk lots of overstock and returned Items.

My high level biz approach would be to keep the inventory in my home and promote these items on sites like craigslist and ebay at discounted prices.

Any thoughts?

Their fixed price returns that have not been inspected are mostly at least $1,000 for a carton, but they go as high as $7,000.

Even if you have $1,000 to outlay on a lucky dip for inventory, the discount is not high enough. The fixed price lots are usually around 25% of the retail price, and that retail price is the full recommended price for working, undamaged goods.

For that much money you can buy a consistent supply of products of your choice direct from the actual manufacturer in China or other countries. The importing process is easy.

I have had plenty of people start their importing business with a lot less than $1,000.

Here is an email I received recently from one of my happy book buyers, who was originally skeptical:

"Ok. From extremely skeptical to successful completion. Credit given where credit is due. I followed the book instructions you laid out. Took my time to double check everything and was able to successfully import an order from China. Not only that but it was also a "sample order" for less than 300.00. A 300% mark up has allowed to get initial investment back and I have 70% of my inventory left. Stop promoting your book. Your encouraging competition for me Many thanks."

NOTE; The email is on file for FTC inspection if needed.

So what do I do to get started?

I looks like you have a guide, where can I find this?

I've dealt in overstock/clearance lines for a couple of years now and there's plenty of money in it - providing you have the channels to offload such stock. I find it sells well on Amazon and eBay - it also does well on our own website too.

Just because it's an "overstock" or "clearance line" doesn't mean you can't make money on it.

Are you able to provide high level guidance ( where to find good wholesalers, basic info on a viable business plan)?

Yes, you can. It's a really good decision. But, before going to this, you need to think about the percentage of the profit what you get from this business.
