Hey WF! This is my first post here so forgive me for being a lurker for so long (since 2011... I know, I know).

Question for you seasoned (non-dropshipping) ecommerce pros- What are some of the pain points that I should expect to encounter as I start but even more importantly to me, as I scale?

Here's some of the things I feel I already have a good handle on-
  • Which platform to use (yes there's a lot of debate out there but I have made up my mind, please don't confuse the issue here)
  • What niche (yes, well researched)
  • Vendors (have my suppliers lined out)
  • Logistics (as far as warehousing and shipping carrier is concerned)
  • Basic traffic generation strategies (at least where to start - PPC, SEO, Content, Social channels)
  • Conversion improvement will be an ongoing process, I understand this. (planning on using split testing as my primary means of conversion increase)
Hoping you can see that I am serious about making this work from the beginning.

So what things am I going to need to handle after the basics are in place (and hopefully working)? If you could put it in terms of revenue benchmarks that would help me wrap my brain around it. (Ie "Once you hit the $5,000 month level expect to encounter X")

I would also be curious as to what challenges you face today. I am thorough if you couldn't tell, and this will help me identify and prepare for some of the unforeseen roadblocks that cause stores to fail or plateau.

Thanks so much for your help and candidness.

I will give you some answers one by one.
1st one about the ecommerce platform, I would like to suggest you about Opencart and Magento. Opencart is for the newbies and Magento is for heavy website like multi vendor.
2nd one is Niche, you need to think about your product what you want to sell. Apart from this, you need to update yourself with current marketing trends.
And for rest queries, you need to hire a reputed eCommerce platform firm, they will assist you to setup your business.

Thanks for that. I think I have your points pretty handled at this junction.

Anyone else out there have any thoughts? I was hoping that WF would provide a little more guidance.

      Really, no one? Kinda disappointed.
