Hello Warriors,

Recently I have launched a website based on Ali-Express and I would like to utilize the site in my Drop Shipping Business.

Is there any expert who can advise me how can I start a Drop Shipping business from home?

Kind regards,
Pulak

You want to do drop shipping or sell from your home and ship it yourself? 2 different things. dropshipping = you sell, collect money, place order with the dropshipper, they ship to your customer.

I've never done dropshipping but I think the margins can be fairly low. This makes it harder to spend $$$ on ads to get customers.

Why not set up your own 'dropship' style with a fulfilment house (keeping you a larger %)

Don't you feel like drop shipping is very vulnerable? If your supplier can't get the product to your customer your reputation is on the line, not the supplier. I think it would be just as easy to hold the product if you knew you were going to sell it.

That is great if the individual in question have the capital to purchase, store, and ship the merchandise. Of course, one can start small and scale the process up accordingly.
However, with dropshipping the everhead is minimal and scaling up is much more feasible.

          Cheers,

The angry warrior chuff1026 says he started off dropshipping with $200. I have already posted a copy of an email from one of my book users who started with $300 and that is very common.

Some have started importing with as little as $150, but $200 to $300 is more usual. Of course some of my book users have a lot more than that as starting capital, but the success of so many with just a small amount proves that importing is a viable alternative to dropshipping.

At the huge profit margins they are making, they are not like so many dropship resellers who are just providing cheap labor for the wholesalers. Commission salesmen earn a lot more than the pathetic 10% that chuff1026 makes, and they don't have any risks.

I know that many people have turned to dropshipping because they have failed at their attempts at importing. That does not mean the importing model is faulty it just means that they don't know how to do it properly. That is why so many buy my book and succeed.

            Q. Why do I write about importing in dropshipping threads? Answer:

            • There is no importing category, only wholesaling and dropshipping.
            • Warriors should not be left in ignorance about alternatives, especially when they can make such huge margins with the alternatives.

I notice that you never answer any of the points raised by anyone, you just shout angrily.

Well, I am not interested in your "challenge" because as usual you have written in kind of shorthand without any explanation of what you are talking about.

I will however, answer your angry insults.

If the information I provide in my book is BS and hype, why do I get hundreds of emails and posts thanking me for it. Here are a few examples and I have them all on file:

"I purchased his book last week, it's an awesome book! Straight to the point.. And didn't have to waste my time reading many worthless pages!! I found many manufacturers, and drop-shippers. But to be honest I don't want everyone buying his book, so I won't have as much competition!!"

"Well no body replied so I searched Walter Hay's posts (Importexport) and it is obvious that he really knows what he is talking about so I bought his book.

The best word I can find to describe it is WOW! This is like a text book, except it is very easy to read and for a newbie like me easy to understand.

Its full of the most amazing tricks of the trade, and after reading it twice I found a manufacturer who gave me the most amazing prices on the little order I wanted to buy. Before I got the book I had tried to find a supplier of these things on Alibaba and DHgate, but now I know that the high prices they quoted me were because they are not the actual manufacturers. Walter's book showed me how to be sure they are. ....... Thanks a million Walter! You have saved me heaps of money and taught me how to get great profits. Any body who tries to import without your book is gonna lose out."

"I read Walters book and he does know what he's talking about, worth every cent."

"I bought the book a few days ago. It made me realize that I've been wasting my time contacting wholesalers rather than manufacturers. I also didn't have much idea about what needed to happen if I made a purchase from the supplier. It has a good checklist to avoid some pitfalls."

"I just finished your book and WOW alot of golden nuggets in there. It is like a treasure chest of knowledge and tricks of the trade for importing.
It was worth the money, in the long run it will save readers a load of money. What is 97 some dollars in comparison to thousands of dollars.
It may not be a 300 page book but that is because there are no stories and all that."

Moderator, please excuse the self promotion, but the person to whom I am replying has repeatedly insulted me on this thread and another. His pointless challenge could best be answered by others rather than by me, so that is why I posted their comments. All are forum posts.

I am one of those who is glad that Importexport does post in dropshipping threads.

Cos I only had a small amount of money to get started with an online biz, I was going to try dropshipping. I read lots of posts about dropshipping then I found one where Importexport said that you only needed a little bit of cash to start importing.

I bought his great book and it got me started importing. I am already making heaps more money than I ever thought I could, so if he didnt post in dropshipping threads I would never have known anything about the alternative.

I agree with him that dropshipping profits are too small. Im selling for 5 times my cost.

you clowns keep harboring on BS that doesnt bloody answer the question pr address the issue of why most people dropship
most people dropship because 1. they dont have the capital to get into imports or 2. they dont have experience in ecommerce and they want experience. By harping on the negatives makes no sense. I can sit here writing over and over about the negatives of importing stuff..but who gives a F. every business has its positives and negatives and certain people choose certain lanes for various reasons
if you were a dropshipper that left to import and sell their own stuff and you can compare the two and speak on pros and cons we can have an inteligent conversation..but by just repeating random BS serves no one..

Very wise suggestion. Dropshipping margins are very low. In another thread chuff1026 quotes figures that show he makes 10% profit.

By buying direct from the actual manufacturers in China, the profit margins can be huge. Here is an email I received recently from one of my book buyers:

"Ok. From extremely skeptical to successful completion. Credit given where credit is due. I followed the book instructions you laid out. Took my time to double check everything and was able to successfully import an order from China. Not only that but it was also a "sample order" for less than 300.00. A 300% mark up has allowed to get initial investment back and I have 70% of my inventory left. Stop promoting your book. Your encouraging competition for me Many thanks." Email on file for FTC inspection if required.

Those figures must have dropshippers drooling.

you may be an import master
but its a different business model
i have helped guys use 150 usd and make 2k profit in their first month dropshipping
thats not gonna happen with importing

With a paid support team the book is real value for money. They can and will answer your questions regarding subjects my book deals with.

If any question is too hard for them, they refer it to me.

I will PM you with some extra information that might be of interest.

            Hello Walter,

Could you message me with more details regarding your book. I am very interested and tbh I'm fed up of drop shipping, the margins are rubbish and its not getting me anywhere. Would love to learn how to import the right way and also with a low investment.

              PM sent.

The realization that dropshipping margins are not worth the effort finally arrives for a large number of people.

I post in threads about dropshipping in order to let people know that there is a viable alternative, direct importing can provide staggeringly high returns for such small investments.

      Hey Chuff,

Are you using a program like dsd to drop ship? or how do you keep up with listing products, stock and price status?

I'm guessing with the amount you're making you must have 1000s of listings. How do you keep up?

      Thanks

I'm guessing with the amount you're making you must have 1000s of listings. How do you keep up?

        Thanks
        i only have 167 listings

i use Dsgenie to track my items

A site like that only encourages people to jump on the bandwagon and increase competition. Not a bright idea.

Don't forget that Aliexpress is a retail site where you pay a lot more than you would if you bought direct from the overseas manufacturer.
