If you're not a tech person, but you're good at marketing, you could learn a lot about affiliate marketing on this forum.

Earning commissions by promoting other people's products is very low tech, but very rewarding for a skilled marketer

Ok, so you want to start an ecommerce site. First, decide whether you want to start a dropshipping type of business or want to carry your own inventory.

Carrying your own inventory would require hundred to thousands of dollars of initial costs but the profit you'll make will be quite high. On the other hand, if you want to follow the dropshipping model, the costs would be low and there would be no headache of storing and shipping the products but the profit margin will be lower.

You can look on Alibaba and other such sites to source the products in bulk if you want to have your own inventory.

As a complete beginner with no development experience, it could cost you well into 4 figures to set up a fully functioning e-commerce website.

You'll need large stock of the products you're selling, then you need to sort the deliveries and payment processing, most importantly you'll have to find suppliers who will provide your stock in bulk, so you can make a profit on re-selling them...etc, etc.

As you can see, before you even get to the website, there are many things you need to get sorted. E-commerce for physical products is very similar to a regular brick and mortar business, obviously with the exception of sales being generated purely online.

Well, there's a lot to learn if entering anything in the Digital World.

My advice would be to start something when you really feel you have the right level of knowledge. Not before. Otherwise you risk getting frustrated, and maybe you'll even quit. And that would be a pity, right? Start by learning how to create traffic. Now you are more interested in eCommerce but the more you'll learn the more options you discover.

I agree that affiliate marketing would be a good option.

But the most important thing: choose your project according to your level of knowledge and your Budget.

Then get out there and sell something. Start with affiliate marketing (preferably the ones that offer recurring income each month), and start marketing. But i have to ask, what makes you say you're more of a "marketing person"? I like that attitude. Marketer first - so you can reach your second million incredibly faster than you made your first. What have you sold in the past that qualifies you as a marketing person?

I agree with the other Warrior Forum members that Affiliate Marketing is the more ideal marketing model to follow if you are just getting starting in Internet Marketing. There is an lower learning curve and lower start-up cost than making money from an eCommerce site.

Some of the advantages of making money as an affiliate are

    - Make money without creating your own products
    - Avoid having to provide customer support
    - Easy to get started
    - Fairly easy to scale

"Carrying your own inventory would require hundred to thousands of dollars of initial costs." This is not correct. I have taught hundreds of people how to buy small quantities direct from manufacturers overseas, at ex-factory prices. The profit margins are as much as 10 times what people make out of dropshipping.

"You can look on Alibaba and other such sites".I advise against using Alibaba and most similar sites because it is too hard to find genuine manufacturers there. Most suppliers listed as manufacturers are traders and they can't possibly give you the high margins that you can get from real manufacturers.

"You'll need large stock of the products". Not so. See my comments above. Ignore the myth that you have to buy the huge MOQs that are usually quoted. I teach how to get genuine manufacturers to supply small orders if that is what you want.

"then you need to sort the deliveries" That is very easily dealt with by using a fulfillment service such as Amazon's FBA or an independently owned service.
