Hi
I am making a webshop for some goods and i have 0 experiance with ecommerce platforms.

I need a website WITHOUT a payment gateway. I want people to order and confirm, then they will get a email with payment instructions. (They will by cash by mail)

Any suggestions?

  • Is there any reason you want to avoid having customers pay online? To be frank, I'm not sure how much success you would have by asking customers to send in payment through the mail, unless there was a really good reason for this. People shop online for convenience and efficiency, so I'm worried you would lose buyers if you didn't offer a payment gateway.

That said, I believe wordpress can be customize to represent your ecommerce store however you want, maybe without a payment gateway (Fellow Warriors - if I am wrong about this assumption, please correct me).

I hope you consider implementing a payment gateway. Wish you luck and success.

The reason is that i will be selling research drugs (not illegal) but still i wouldnt like my own name associated with this whole thing. So i am taking a offshore hosting with annonymous whois register and i dont want any payment gateways linking to me directly. So pay by cash is the way.

Now that beeing said.. does anyone have an idea what platform i can setup to just make a order by filling the correct details and confirming?

If you have no experience with setting up an eccomerce platform an easy way to do this is to
set up a Wordpress with a premium Eccomerce theme and add Woocomerce.

Developing a E-commerce site without payment gateway has both advantage and disadvantage. Advantage is some customers do not trust online payment because of hacking problem. They prefer COD. Disadvantage is some customers prefer to pay from Credit cards in case of EMI.

Since you are not going to use a conventional payment gateway, I would use WordPress and WooCommerce on a shared hosting service like BlueHost or Hostgator, rather than a web-based platform like Shopify, BigCommerce, Ecwid, etc.

Having your own website gives you the freedom to make changes quickly rather than go through support requests. Using WooCommerce makes it easy to switch to a conventional payment gateway using PayPal or Stripe if you change your mind.

And if you have never worked with WordPress and WooCommerce, it is very easy to find someone to help out.

This is so simple to do, whats the use of confirmation ?? any one can confirm anything and not pay you.. so you can use opencart and just set it to take check payment only, the order sets as pending until you get your check and at that time you just process and complete the order in the back end... The system allows directions of payment ie name address and so on..

Don't get me wrong I like woo commerce but along with woo comes wordpress and the constant updates to stay secure drives me up the wall... opencart is lean and mean and runs on any hosting ( almost )

If you want to build a setup an e-commerce marketplace for B2B and B2C where anyone can sign up to sell digital goods. You try Shopify,Magento and Opencart .In my point of view today Shopify very successful.Customers able to sell products in as many different ways as possible. In the past this was costly and complicated Shopify makes it easy.Well you can look the service of as a E Commerce Platforms it's provide the best single as well as multi-vendor platform... It helps in providing complete E-commerce solution for startups and started platform.

Shopify includes everything you need to set up your online store and sell online. Use your staff account to login to the administration area. From there you can build your ecommerce marketplace website for B2B and B2C, then manage and accept credit card orders.

The whole thing sounds very shady. Anonymous seller, offshore hosting, selling drugs for cash. Who would trust you with this type of operation and how is selling research drugs for cash legal? What kind of drugs and to who?

Shopify has it all in terms of an easy setup, with a handy dashboard area for quickly adding products, customizing the look of your site and more. It’s cool because Shopify asks you if you plan on moving from another platform during the signup process.
