Vintage Full Time Ebay Seller Seeking advice on shopify...

Hey guys,
I have a big store on eBay 5000 unique items. I want to put my shop on my own website. I've thought about woo ecommerce but I think it may be too hard to maintain, not sure because I've not tried it.

I'm thinking of shopify, I'm still under the 14 day trail. I like the themes and I was able to get all my items up on the sight with little effort on my part. I did have some doubles and I have to make collections to make all my stuff easier to find.

But here's the kicker. Is there anything out there that will sync the items sold from ebay and shopify. I thought about stitchlabs, but that was not going well, I spent over 3 days trying to get things working together and it was going to be too big of a hassle. PLUS they were going to charge me per transaction. I already pay for transactions on ebay so I don't want to pay for a bigger plan on stitchlabs.

If I can't find anything to make ebay and shopify talk together, it just might not be the thing I need to do, I will have to list on ebay and then list on shopify. Pay fees for shopify and try and get traffic to the sight. I am a one man or I mean woman show. So maybe this is not what I need to do now... but everyone says you need your own site. And I do love how my items look on the site, plus it is just more professional...right?

Any help would be GREAT!!

Thanks,
Michelle...stuck and not sure what to do next.

I don't know about Shopify, but I know that you can sync your ebay items on BigCommerce. I actually found Bigcommerce's platform easier to navigate than Shopify, as far as my preferences go.

  • Hey Michelle,

Glad you're liking Shopify. There are alternatives to Stitch that could still sync your eBay and Shopify sales and share other important data. I work for one (ecomdash) that acts as the communicator between your sales channels, updates product quantities everywhere when a sale occurs, and brings all sales order information to a central dashboard for easy fulfillment. We have a product listing tool that will allow you to download your eBay listings to ecomdash, and then upload them to your Shopify site. We do not take transaction fees - that's something we feel very strongly about. We also have a 15 day free trial, if you wanted to test us out.

If you'd like other suggestions, I'd recommend checking out ecommerce software directories. WebRetailer has an extensive directory to look through, and is really good about updating with new information as soon as its released. They also post reviews, so you can see what your peers think.

Good luck to you. Hope you find the right software for your business. Sounds like you're growing right now, which is awesome!

Having your own store opens up another channel and lets you build your assets in ways you couldn't on eBay. Yes, Shopify is a great choice.

By syncing Shopify with eBay, you just need to get the right inventory levels? https://apps.shopify.com/shopseen

The inkFrog Open app may also work, though it seems better suited for someone on Shopify looking to go over to eBay.

I use inkfrog and have for years but the inkfrog open doesn't help with me because I would have to give up the inkfrog that I operate ebay with, it has more bells and whistles than inkfrog open. I have heard of shopseen and will check that out. Thanks!

I tried magneto and it didn't fit and then it took me calling the top managers just to get them to stop billing me monthly. Not going back to them sorry and not interested in any drop shipping. But thanks for the comment.

Have you tired Magento? It's not as easy as Shopify, however much more powerful. Besides, we are developing a solution and you can benefit the beta-testing program by having a free dropshipping software, please see some details here:
