Wordpress Plugins For E-commerce

I don't recommend Wordpress as an ecommerce platform for many reasons:

Security - hackers love WP
Plugins are required - even the best themes need extra plugins to do what you want done and when plugins add up, site load time goes down
Constant updates

There are so many excellent hosted ecommerce platforms available today that are affordable for startups and come with all the bells and whistles you can dream up. Plus you get customer and tech support, security, innovation and tons of benefits that a self-hosted platform just can't keep up with or compete against.

You may also use Log Deprecated Notices. Generally whenever the WordPress developers deprecate the file, a function or any function argument, the theme or plugins still use the previous functions. So, Log Deprecated notices are the plugin that will scan your website and look if there is any deprecated item in the folder. If any function is not being used properly, it notifies the given user to correct it.

With Woocommerce, it all depends on what you want to do. There's a lot of extensions that I use that are really cool, but they may not be good for others. There are great ones for getting customers to return to your site, like customer rewards for every purchase. Just look over the extensions at Woothemes.com and check out the descriptions and see which ones you'd be interested in. I'd have to say, that there is very little a Woocommerce site won't do for you with the right extensions.

Those are all ordinary Wordpress plugins .... not specifically for ecommerce. These are for ecommerce, WooCommerce sites.

If you use Aweber, the Aweber extension is great for integrating Aweber into your site.

Follow-up Emails is another one that is great for keeping in touch with your customers.

I like Product Bundles for creating bundles for sale.

Product CSV Import is a must have if you have a csv file of products from the manufacturer or dropshipper.

Smart Coupons are a great incentive for customers to buy and save with a coupon offer.

Some usual ones like Shipment Tracking, FedEX, USPS, and UPS are all great.

Give people a discount for reviews with Review for Discount.

Create bulk discounts and pricing with Dynamic Pricing.

I love the Subscriptions extension for creating a subscription based site.

I have done a lot of ecommerce websites that run on wordpress platform and trust me the best plugin to use is woocommerce. It is one of its kind plugin. It is simple to use but has a lot of functionality module that will make you implement your ecommerce website with much easy. A lot of back-end analysis has been done and I can assure you that it is the best plugin ever. From generation of reports, restocking notices to customized emails upon receival of orders.
On good thing is that woocommerce is a free plugin and thus you will not incur any cost when installing it. Try it today and you will never ever regret.

Yeah, I agree. I neglected to mention that all of the extensions I listed above are for a WooCommerce ecommerce site.

I've build over 10 Woocommerce websites over the last 18 months and had no issues with security. I think Wordpress is ideal for a low cost professional site.

Once you start with Woocommerce you'll soon want new features, make sure to check their extensions they've pretty much thought of everything.

Seems like you're coming from a business rather than technical approach, so WooCommerce and the plugins others have suggested. You probably want to go with WPEngine to make your life easy or use Shopify where it's all in one place, they are comparable.
