Hello Guys!

New to the site, and wanted to post my first thread,

I am wanting to pick your brains, how do you find a niche market for ebay and amazon?

Do anyone of you use dropshipping?

Thanks

Wouldn't it be better to start looking for a niche "product" instead of a niche "market"?

Niche markets can be huge and overwhelming; by instead focusing on potentially profitable products you'll eventually come across a "niche of a niche" that you could never have think of otherwise.

For Amazon: use the BSR as a starting point to get ideas on what is selling, but don't limit your search to the top100: click on products, check what other customers bought, check Amazon recommendations, check their rankings and drill down through products after products, niche after niche if necessary. Is hard work, I know, but rewarding if persisting.

Other than "best sellers" lists look also at "movers & shakers", "most wished for" and use the auto-suggestion search tab: type some word, or even just random letters, and the powerful AMZ algorithm will give you ideas on what people is often looking for

For Ebay: I don't know. Use the search tab here on the WF, you'll find a pool of information on the topic. There are very knowledgeable and helpful folks hanging around here

    Cheers

P.S: Amazon & Dropshipping, on the same sentence, means trouble:/, but Yes, MANY dropshippers in here

Here a short answer: When you search on eBay Basic search for any product, (rods for example)look for products with the most bids or that are most popular (how many have been sold)

You can see that a product is popular because eBay will indicate under the title how many have been sold, or how many have been sold in the last hour.
Quite quickly, you will find that some brands sell more than others, some sizes are more popular and some colours are more popular than others.
There are more ways, but this is a good start..

Let me be blunt, drop shipping on ebay sucks. Everyone is offering free shipping and below retail prices. It's damn near impossible to make a decent profit drop shipping on ebay unless you can buy your product below wholesale on Aliexpress and then sell it for 2-3 times the price. Ebay fees will eat into your profits.

I recently calculated a product that I wanted to sell on ebay, just to see if it would work. The Reseller price(directly from the manufacturer) is $162.00. It retails for 192.00 --someone on ebay is currently selling it for 169.00 with free shipping and has sold 430 to date. No way that I can compete with that price. To make a profit, I would have to charge $180.00 and then the ebay fees are $16 which after shipping leaves me with a $2.00 profit --once Paypal get it's it's cut...I'm in the hole. That scenario is fairly common on ebay. Ebay is the bottom of the barrel for drop shipping. Try to avoid it unless you can make the numbers work. Even then giving up 15% of my profit really is a deal breaker.

If you want to make money in drop shipping, you need your own websites, not a marketplace account. Figure out how to market your sites to bring traffic and sales.
