am going to start a udemedy course on the basics of Amazon. However, I have been selling on Amazon for the past 2 years and forgot a lot of the questions I had starting out. I would love to hear some questions all of you have about starting to sell on Amazon and I will use those questions to construct the course on Amazon. If everything goes well I will make a more in depth course.

I look forward to hearing your questions,

Peter

When I am shopping online for something, I go directly to amazon.com, search & bookmark prospective purchases, then read the reviews before making a choice.

My question is: why would I bother to go anywhere else?

Have you been making money by mostly doing arbitrage or have you been creating private label products? Or a mix of the two?

Not really a question about selling on Amazon but I dont see why you would want to

so in 2014 I did retail and online arbitrage. I took a course on selling private labeled products in the end of 2014 and in 2015 I was all private label I just now started getting into a little wholesaling however im done with it till at least 2017 so i can focus on my PL brand.

heres my stats for arbitrage in 2014 which really i made very little after all margins going away when id find high margin then send it in and get little $ back and a loss sometimes.

      Heres 2015:

      Heres 2014-2015:

      Heres today:

Bottom line I gave up arbitrage for good and im going to focus on my PL brand and in 2016 I want to Launch at least 10 private labeled products. I currently only have 1 thats doing around 10k monthly in sales just getting my 2nd PL product ranked and selling now im giving away 100 unit of the product tomorrow and hopefully in 5-10 days ill be on page 1 for my main keyword.

I am nowhere close to where I want to be i really wont be satisfied until I am doing at least 50k monthly in sales and ideally I would like to be at 250k in about 3 years.

Congrats man! If you don't mind me asking out of the 10k monthly in sales what is your profit roughly?

I am definitely interested in creating a PL brand and want to start one early next year. I was originally looking into arbitrage but it just seems like it's not consistent enough profit margins because you have to control the buy box.

Good luck on the new product as well!

doing about 4k profit now per month but i spent 7-8k on training this year and 3k on a vegas business trip. those were all 1 time fees though so now in 2106 im going to try to crush it. i have my 2nd product now and i think in a few weeks to a month ill be doing an additional 10kish in sales and about another 4k profit monthly. Its a cheaper product so i will be able to reinvest most of that into other products.

its a lot of work but well worth it for sure.

it seems to me that "the basics of Amazon" is a well covered topic on the internet today, with dozens of Bloggers, Podcasters, Internet Marketers, Facebook Groups plus an astonishing number of successful and so-so successful PL and RA sellers building up their lists with free Ebooks, Webinars, Softwares and all related up-sells with their own respective information-products.

My point and my question to you is: do you consider your "Basic AMZ Course" a viable and potentially lucrative business idea, given the brutal and well-established competition you will certainly face?
What will you offer in your course that will make you stand among the competition?

I see your point there. People that would take the course probably could go find out how to do it could go find it for free out on the interwebs. My thing though is I could learn how to make a website for free on the internet or I could take a course on it that has videos right there for it and answers any questions people have.

Im just thinking about testing the waters though if it goes good and people like it on a year or so I may do a full blown class. That covers what I do in more detail.

      thanks for your thoughts

      Dear rumifdx,

Peter don't need to "offer something in the course that will make him stand among the competition". He just needs to have a good business plan. I've bought so many crappy courses because of the sales page, great testimonials... I'm sure almost any course can be sold on udemy or elsewhere with a solid business plan.

useful content (not different or brand new) + solid business plan is enough to sell anything.

There are good folks here and there ready to buy "the basics of Amazon" course. And Peter just needs to find them.

      Thanks and talk soon

    Hey Peter800 (and Anyone),

First, I really want to thank you for sharing you knowledge with us.

    Well!
Never tried to sell on Amazon because I just don't know how to monetize the traffic I'm able to drive (PPC). So here is my question:
How can I get good traffic to Amazon products I'm promoting?

    Thanks again.

Amazon has a program called Amazon PPC you can select if you want automatic ads or manual.

Auto ads Amazon picks the keywords that Amazon thinks is relevant for your product then you download and the ones that convert well you put in a manual ad.

then you constantly tweak that raise the price per bid the ones that are doing good and lower or pause the ones that are doing bad.

Personally I have never done anything to drive traffic to Amazon. There is no need to do so as Amazon already has huge amounts of buyer traffic at all times. If you have good products that people want and you sell at a decent price then consumers will find and buy.

Perhaps what the meant was: you don't need to drive traffic to Amazon from outside sources such as Google ppc or social media; amz sponsored ads won't be considered as "outside traffic" as it is basically an internal campaign.
Amz ads are certainly powerful to drive traffic and sales to your listing, and I'm sure DWaters is well aware of that.

Amazon sure does reward you for outside traffic though in the rankings the key is finding ways to make money driving the traffic to Amazon.

    My question would be:

What kinds of paid traffic can one use to generate sales and make a profit as I would rather take the money that one would normally use for SEO and devote it to targeted traffic

Amazon ads is all im doing now however im working on FB ads some but finding just the right groups pretty tough.

Its honestly a lot like google used to be you do huge giveaways targeting certain kws and then get ranked on the first page and collect sales. from that. thing is you need to find a product not to many people are doing that on bc it will be tough to get to the top like that with established sellers that can just do bigger giveaways.

today im doing 2 giveaways for 50 units a day for 2 days one of my old product and one of my new product I just got. I will lose about 1.4k however I will get to page 1 for the 2nd product thhasts nowhere now and will get to spot 4-5 on page 1 for my main keyword which willl lead to about 40-50 sales a day rather then 15-30.
