Ebay 3rd party image hosting issues

I'm trying to use images in product descriptions on ebay but regardless of what 3rd party hosting tool I use I'm seeing alt text once the product goes live. The image shows correctly during previews in editing mode.
I've tried hosting on imgur and also on my own website, both with the same problems.
When I host the image on ebay it displays fine, but I don't want to do this as I don't want the pictures to show in the gallery.
Anyone else come across this problem and have a work around?
